looking for some answers from maybe a dumb question. i have line counters now wondering if you spool
the with full braid or mono with carbo leader. that alot of braid. thks

I spool mine with mono backing until its about a 1/3rd full then add braid for the rest with a floro leader. Cheaper this way.

depends on what your using them for....

mono backing will work if your walleye fishing....

if your salmon fishing, straight braid all the way....and lots of it.

I dont use braid at all especially for salmon. Straight mono all the time.

not even for dipsy's or backing?

i run dipsy's, inline boards, and leadcore/copper, all with braid mainline or braid backing.

only mono that is on my boat is on my two riggers, 17lbs test big game.

oh for backing yes. or braid dipsys. as a mainline, never. how do you get away with 17lb test with the fleas?

i dont fish when there are fleas...at least not when they are thick....

i'll find alternate species (usually im into largies by then).

however, i dont find a quick cut of the terminal end of my line, slide the fleas off, then retie does work...

i HATE flea flicker!

another thing you can do when you do have fleas is point the rod tip to the water, so the line is all laying in the water and give a quick snap up of the rod tip. try it, you will see what i mean
