Canadian Power Squadron is thinking about setting something up at the Picton dock for challenging the test. Just wanted to survey the board, is this a good idea or has everybody got their card and we're wasting our time.

I would suspect it would be a waste of time, surely everybody by now knows if their going fishing opening weekend they need a operators card. You can be sure the OPP will be checking big time as they have already been on Loughborough Lake and surprisingly did get some for being negilent. They also were checking for registration and numbers on all boats over 10hp, this seemed to be a bigger issue.

By the way you have to carry the operators card saying you have it in the truck or at the house does not work, you will get fined.

Does this apply to boaters from the States?

It is my understanding they don't need a card unless they are here over 45 days straight. You do have to have the safey equipment for boat though that will pass OPP & Canadian Coast Guard inspection.
