Shelly, I have no idea what they come up with but I'm sure it will be a temporary fix at best. All I can do is keep the situation on the front burner. Any anglers who know council members should give them a call. Stay tuned........ mike

As a city that has the best fishing available, why are Youre boat ramps in dire need of repair!!
The local tourism and vendors are missing out on some wonderful oppourtunities,as local and visiting anglers and boaters, along with Tournament organizers are going to Belleville and surrounding areas that have nicer ramps to accomodate there needs!!!
I do not think You realise the oppourtunities the City is missing out on!!!
You have one of the best locations behind the Arena(parking, lighting, shopping near by) and great access to some of the best fishing in the world!!! YET youre boat ramps are unacceptible!!!
Please read some emails sent to
Quinte Fishing .Com and no I do not agree with some of the political views, BUt I agree that Quinte West is missing out on a great oppourtunity!!!!!!!!

Not only is the boat launch terrible, but there a metal post just below water level that could do alot of damage to a hull if someone where to hit it very close to where you would drive your boat on the trailer
That area has soo much potential to be a nice tourist attraction if it was a good boat launch

To some Temporary fix is to others called simple Maintinance seems simple enough now would be a great time in the low water conditions to add back some fill from the POWER LOADING boat guys who ignore the NO POWER LOADING signs posted I really dont think them signs are posted because they are afrade your gonna chop up a few sunfish with your prop...... its hard enough to get a pot hole filled on the streets let alone new approns poured or extended to compensate the low water levles..... its a sad state of affairs no doubt. but this day and age nothing is simple. nothing except raising taxes that seems simple.

Where are these no power loading signs you are referring to? I have not launched there in a few years due to the ramp being so horrible. What needs to be done is spend some money and get things done similar tot he ramps in belleville.

We went through a similar process with the City of Kawartha Lakes Council some five years ago and sent representation from the Lindsay Bassmasters club to address the council formerly at a council meeting. As a club we helped by photographing and providing written discriptions and a prioritized list of various public access/ launch facilities and their present condition and included potential solutions ideas.

Once you point out that a given municipality is on the hook and liable for these facilities and that our muniple tax dollars pay for these services their hands are more or less tied and must do something about it. It took a long time and several "Gentle Reminders" :D, but eventually (several years later) they have slowly and are continuing to fix facilities throughout the region. (ie: after slapping a temp-fix "band-aid" on it last year, Lindsay's Riviera launch finally got re-poured this winter - yeah!)

great to see the response from your Council following your email.

good luck, keep after them, and be patient ................ G!

no work done yet to the ramp, but they put the docks at both location, the arena and by the OPP station.
8) 8)

water is still low, watch your prop if you use the launch by the arena.

Just met with manager of public works at the ramps and the intent is to fill and smooth with washed stone. Lower Trent Conservation will allow no movement of existing humps and lumps due to contamination concerns. Not sure how long it will last but wait and see.
