Took the boat out today for a pre-derby run and to see the impact of the low water levels on the Bay. Some usual spots are particularly nasty and will for sure catch many off guard next week-end.
In particular...

- The water about 50-100 yards off of the Belleville South George St ramp arcs up to 2.5 ft in some places
- The mouth of the Moira River is much worse than normal.... If you travel the channel straight from Myers Pier to the North underpass of the Bay Bridge the bottom rises drastically from 18 FOW to 2 FOW in no time (about 200 yards out from river inlet)
- Also, the dead head (rather entire tree) off the mouth of the Trent river posted earlier isn't lookin' any nicer either (anyone have some GPS coordinates to post for that one? heard its been there a while)

Seriously thinkin' about opening up a "bottom end" sales/repair tent for the derby (could likely retire after that one).
Be careful out there -especially at night- as your depth charts are no longer all that accurate.

Thanks for that info.
A couple more.
- the north shore of the Glenora Ferry that runs towards the plant is also shallow from about 100 yards off shore.
-Also don't forget the rock Island that's off Massassauga Point half way towards Point Anne. With the water so low, that one might be visable.

Good luck all
Be careful

There is a spot by the south side of the green buoy off of north port where the water will be only about 1 foot deep. Watch yourselves out there guys and watch for guys in trouble, I think there maybe a few.

Pointe Anne launch is really low as well, wouldnt recommend anyone with a car or small truck to launch there and if you have deep haul GL! Im launching with a buddy at Herchimer this morning will update what the conditions are around there.

Hey 10.5.... The tree is actually out straight out from the river and into the bay a couple hundred yards The day I was out there was rather calm (no chop whatsoever) and the only reason I knew something was there was because I went over to see why all the sea gulls had landed at that spot (I thought they were finding food... but when I got close to it I could see they were perched on about 8 inches of the tree that was above water). I wanted to mark it with a jug or something, but couldn't find anything extra in my boat to float off of it (also didnt have my GPS to mark coordinates ) . Hopefully someone else will try to mark it somehow.

Thank to everyone else for all their "heads-up" .... hopefully more new dangers will get posted as people find them during their pre-derby test runs.

Didnt launch at Herchimer but it looks launchable. Launched at Pointe Anne, enough water to push a boat off the trailer, bring your waders if you plan on launching there, you will have to get in to push boat off or back on..... the rocks make it pretty tough without 4 wheel drive its hard to get the boat out.
