I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the difference is between the 550 and the 565. They are on sale this week and I am going to get one, just not sure which one to get. I am looking for something to show me structure, depth, and bait fish.

Thanks John

I was wondering the same. Chinadian tire has the 550 & 570 (I think the 570 is the same as the 565) I couldn't find the 565. the 550 has a single beam at 20 degrees the 570 has dual beam one at 20 degrees and a larger one of 60 degrees. Display resolution on the 550 is 240x240, on the 570 it's 640x320. One is 160.00 the other is 250.00. I went with the 570. for the extras. Check out the Humminbird website it explains the difference.

One is actually a more powerful unit. the higher the RMS output, the better. The higher the peak to peak number, the better. It will mark clearer

I have the 565 and it is great. I would like the paddle wheel for mine but beside that the dual beam is nice. Fish found on the narrow beam are solid black and fish on the wide beam are hollow. So it can tell you mor einfo which is good. It also shows the thermocline which is very very handy. I would buy the one with the dual beam, if I where you.
