Good afternoon everyone!

It's with great pleasure that I announce that we are moving ahead with the formation of the Quinte Region Walleye League!!! After discussing it in detail with our "consultants" and by the response we have received from the original thread, we feel that we have more than enough willing participants to move ahead with forming the league. There are a few things that must happen first. I will list them below.

1) We have to adopt or form a mission statement, code of ethics, organizational rules and guidelines and competition rules. As a note, we have been graciously offered by several of the founding members of the ORWL (Ottawa Region Walleye League) to adopt their overall operating guidelines. I encourage ALL of you to please visit their website http://www.orwl.cato view all of their club guidelines.

2) As well, to keep costs at a minimum, it would be in our best interest to affiliate with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH). By doing so, it provides all of us as well as the club with 3 million dollars of public liability insurance that specifically focuses on fishing and hunting related activities. Not to mention, there are a myriad of other benefits availble to the member. The cost of becoming a member is also $16.00 cheaper when you are associated with a club. I have ordered the Club Package from the OFAH and I will apprise the members once received. Please visit the OFAH link for more information. http://www.ofah.org/Membership/index.cfm?ID=2

3) We will have to set a date for our first meeting to discuss and enact all of the club initiatives and such.

4) We will begin the process of creating a logo and a website for the members of the QRWL. Paul Findlay and Jamie Stothart have kindly agreed to help out with this process. With respect to the logo, I will source 3 different logo designs which we will put to a vote once I have received them.

5) I also thought it would be a lot of fun to arrange 1-2 friendly competitions in the early and late fall as a test "run" of sorts. We could also invite our friends from the ORWL to join and provide some insight. Thoughts?

That is it for now. I encourage all of you to post your thoughts, questions and comments about all of this and I will do my best to answer them. As well, if you still have not added your name to the list of members, please feel free to do so.

Thank you to all who committed to this great venture!!! I am very excited to see what the future has in store for us!

Stay tuned for more updates as the become available!!!

Very happy this is going ahead. Grant send me a PM of things you would like me to work on. Might be a good idea for me you and Jamie to have a call...or maybe a day on the water and we can talk everything out and you can show me how to get some big eyes! :)

Grant this is just a question have you ever thought of being affiluated with the FLW ?. They run the walleye curcuit as, but kinda do both the OFAH kinda like the bass master we have OBF or Ontario Bass Federation and the B.A.S.S just a thought.

Hey Ryan.

There is a walleye Federation through the TBF, but we tried this last year and no one was interested. Your dad and uncle were the only ones who even bothered to show up, which we appreciated very much by the way.

ORWL was not interested either in any affiliations with TBF, even though the format was pretty good. Qualifying events in Ontario that would have led to anglers being able to compete as boaters and non-boaters in the FLW Walleye circuit and championship.

Very similar to the TBF and BASS structure.

Thanks Colin. I know ypu did and Im glad you tried to also. I think we need a TBF Walleye chapter as well to support the walleye fishery we have her on the BOQ. I was thinking of the insurance reasons as you know that the insurance part of it is a pain and can be expensive. I was just thinking they may have the best package going for this type of stuff I dont really know.

Ryan
