I was out Saturday north side of Wicked Banks a ton of bait but no hooks. Salmon King was out on Monday south of salmon Point from 90 to 200 ft of water and saw very little bait and no hooks. The water was at 58.5 degree's on the surface on Saturday, King was recording 61 degree's on Monday.

The table is set for dinner at Wicked Banks they just have to come and feed.

No I haven't I do think in a week we should be Salmon fishing. I saw spots where the bait was running from 20ft down to 100ft with the rods going crazy.
Talking to Ian he said Cranberry was out the day before (Friday) and he was seeing the same thing. I know several years ago when Closa has find the Salmon Hunt Scamper won with 4 salmon with a total weight of over 80lbs and the derby was around the 17th of June. The derby this year will be held on the 19th & 20th of June, I would think it should be great fishing.

That is great news. Can't wait to get into some kings.

Did you run any rods higher for rainbows? Wonder if they are around yet. I always get into the bows with J13's flat lined on the outside boards first.

No I didn't; have been fishing down at Quinte using my Big jon's standing up with the planer boards so hadn't installed planer board mast. We were kind of doing some exploring, did run off the one down rigger down 30ft 80ft back but nothing happened. I think I will put the mast on again even though I hate it on the front of the boat.

Scott....this might be way out to lunch but has anyone tried to jig for salmon. This is done out in BC and a guy I work with did it in Californa last month. They were jigging at 80 feet over 200 feet on a charter boat and getting them. What do you think about doing that here ?

It is early, according to my records the surface temp is about a month ahead of last year. I wouldn't get too excited yet, I think I was lucky because the other 3 hours were boring! The bait is coming though and the salmon will follow it.

It is early, but I think in another week we could be fishing for Salmon big time. I sure plan on going out next Monday if weather permits, I still think will go back to Wicked Banks and Salmon point to start, history tells us they usually come in there first.

we jig for the salmon during the winter up in wiarton , and owen sound harbour , so don't see what difference would be other than the ice to boat thing , nothing like a hard water salmon on the bbq in feb, or march.what is the difference between a king salmon, to coho or chinook ?

Hey I'm trying, but I find that I'm prefishing for everyone I've got to learn to keep my mouth shut. This year if I find them King doesn't have enough beer to let out where I was at the time.
