sorry for the late report, went down to mattagami for another tourney the following week.
Through our pre-fish we decided our go-to tactic for Sunday would be tossing cranks through the weeds. We would position the boat just outside the weedline and cast the cranks out, carefully swimming it back between clusters of weeds not to foul the hooks. The walleye would come out of the weeds, flare their gills, completely engulfing the cranks; an absolutely amazing sight.
Terry Field and myself finished 7th overall with an official weight of 13.8lbs for 4 fish under 24".
Congratulations to fellow ORWL members Sheldon Hatch and Gord Schultz on their tournament win, with a total weight of 18.65lbs for 4 fish, including Big Fish of about 8lbs. Scott Walcott, also a member, deserves a special mention for swinging for the fences and making an over 2-hour run to the U.S. in hopes of landing a big one!
Thank you to the organizers of the QFS for another well-run tournament, which attracted a number of quality anglers. For complete standings
