Quinte Fishing

I thought Id target drums today and Im glad I did. Started from shore at Mass pt conservation area and within 5 minutes caught this 8 lber on a td-9. Then the storm broke loose and I decided only spot to stay dry would be the Bay bridge. Fished with an erie dearie and worm and caught a 15lber out near one of the pillars vertically jigging next time I might take my Flasher see if itll work just like the winter( why wouldnt it), didnt get a photo of it cause my cam was back at the car and I didnt want to risk coming down off the bridge as its a pain in the azz to get back up..... ZINGERS forsure both ran line and gave very good fights better then most species out there!!!!

nice fish martycoo, agreed there a great fight, we got into a couple of them last weekend while trolling for eyes, they make the drag scream

so you walk up the bay bridge and just vertically jig down into the water? and when you get a 15 lb sheephead u walk back down the bridge and land it i guess?funny i wanted to go to the bay bridge today,the wife wasnt impressed with the rain that was supposed to be there all day lol coming from oshawa and her being pregnant she would prolly wanna kill me for draggin her all the way to belleville lol. very nice fish though marty..

I park at the area near the launch on the rossmore side. I come to the underside of the bridge then I climb up and shimmy my way out to the middle on a piece of steel that is about a foot and a half wide. Its not that safe to do but Ive done it since I was young and feel very comfortable doing it, most people I take there to do it say they will just stay on shore, diffently not fun if your afraid of heights. Then ya when I catch a bigger fish that I cant land I shimmy my way back over and land it on the rocks. It takes alot of patience but can be worth it.

martycoo you are definitely an extreme fisherman!!

You sound like a Canniftonian!! I use to catch pigeons under bridges all the time when I was a kid.

I hope you're wearing a lifejacket when you shimmy across the under side of the bridge. Guy did that a couple yrs back and fell which led to his drowning. Be careful!

Dan my wife said the samething.... hehehe. Ive been doing it since I was really young, very comfortable with doing it and I have never had any problems but I do use some caution. I dont recommend that anyone else try this unless your crazy like me...... Im an adrenaline junky I have jumped from very high spots on that bridge it is quite a drop. Gone Fish'n very proud to be a Canniftonian!!!!!! Somedays it looks like the city of China under that bridge!

I was born and raised in Cannifton, and proud of it as well!!

I think my g/f and I are going to head and do some shore fishing at the spots you recommended this afternoon.

We went to Mass Point yesterday afternoon and I caught my first Drum 5lbs on a tail dancer, a great fight . Thanks for the tip. PS. Can anyone tell me why the hell that fish was "barking" at me on shore?

Right on buddy, glad those tips paid off. It was not barking at you, drum have two big balls(like pearls) somewhere near the throat that they grind together and thats what makes the barking sound, a couple that I ate I cut those out and they look pretty neat. Great going, we should hook up soon and Ill show you some of my hot spots around Cannifton, great smallmouth spots!!!!

PS. We headed back to Mass Point yesterday afternoon and the gf caught a nice walleye.
