On June 28th, Laker John and I headed out for a day's fishing. The winds were blowing and the plans to experiment went with the winds. We trolled cranks off the boards in the deep water in front of the cement plant. TONS of fish and Tons and tons of baitfish. NO strikes or touches for 3.5 hours. Boy- there are a lot of fish out there.

Decided that the wind was too tough and began trolling in Thompsons Cove (out of the wind) and hit a small fish in three minutes...

Trolled down back three times and Laker John landed a 19", 18" and a 17" eye on the Uzick Spinner in very shallow water. We continued trolling around Witlow Point and along the south shore to the Church Ramp. Headed over out to the north side to get out of the wind and hit some more fish over there. Finished finshing headed back to the dock. Fished 8.5 hours and landed 21 walleye. A good days fishing.

Fished on the July 3/4 weekend with RedCapBert, hit 8 fish on Saturday with three keepers, fished again on Sunday for two hours and hit four eyes, two over 16" for the box.

Out on Monday with PerfectlyPat and we fished from 0900 - 1200, with 8 landed with a 16" and a 17" for the table.

All fish taken on the Uzick Spinner and worm combo, fishing from 15' to 150' back from the boat - FYI.

Many reports of people beginning to get fish over 15/16", although the small ones are still there and biting actively.

Off for a week - 50th High School reunion in New Brunswick - back to fish on the 13th.

Stay Tuned

Nice report David........ sounds like a good time to me lol . and on the worms. I hit onto the Gulp worms in pumpkinseed last year and ive never been a fan of fake stuff but i have to say they sure like them and ive cought a bunch on one worm before replacing it im sure when the fish are super timmid nothing can replace the real thing but feeding worms to blue gills and perch can get quite expensive ive also found when they are just nipping at the tails just cut them in half and they will last twice as long with more hook sets than using a full one. trust me they deffinatly work you wont be sorry if you add them to your bag of tricks
