Had to travel north for work this week. Decided to take my rod with me. First night we stopped in New Liskard and I fished the shoreline of Lake Tekamekasing ( I think I spelt it right ) very close to Lake Temagimi. Caught alot of 2 lbs scrappy smallmouth and one that was closer to 3lbs, just wish I would have had a boat there, huge beautiful Lake!!!! Had to use all my pics on my cam for work as I forgot to bring the work cam and a memory card.
Passed alot of water on the way to Hearst On, didnt have time to fish through that area and ther last stop was Long Lac and I had the chance to fish Lake Lukinto and it was loaded with hammerhandle pike every cast I was getting a follow or bringing a fish in the boat. Got back into whatever river conncted to it but was by myself and it started to get dark so I decided to head back into the lodge and clean the one 3lb Pike I kept for dinner(it was delicious). When I was in the cleaning station I saw some pics of some rather large Pike and Trout (Brookies, Lakers, Splake, etc) all beautiful fish. What a drive though it was 16 hours to Long Lac and Im thinking about trying to go back up in the winter for some ice fishing as the Bay just dont freeze up quite early enough for me! And everyone up there calls em PICKEREL!

We take our rods up with us moose hunting between Thunder Bay and Armstrong and always take a day to catch dinner. Nothing better than fresh pickeral in the moose camp and grouse on the side. Some of the pickeral, but not all have a very distinct aqua blue colour to them. We figure it must be the minerals in certain areas of the lake. Trolling Erie dearies tipped with a worm and silver\blue Cotton Cordel rattlin' spot seem best for us up there. We usually have to fight the pike back though to get to the pickeral. My Buddy's (water pic) is nearly twice this size of mine. Although I'd deny that to him of course...

Here's another pic of a moose for you then. I got him 2 years ago, 57.5" wide about 1 km from where the pike picture was taken. A treat indeed. Now, if I could just get sent up north for my "work"...
