Hey whats the latest on this?
Dan
I was just thinking of you guys yesterday.
I'd like to share the ORWL experience with you.
We were encouraged by Sheldon Hatch to start the club, but it was the Members who started the club and did the work.
You guys have a similar model going and the G2 guys are awesome for getting this started, but remember any club is all about the members.
Sheldon was invaluable and his advise was great, but he made it quite clear to us that it was our club.
We formed an executive and invited Sheldon and Gord Schultz to sit on the exec as honorary (non-voting) members. We had great input from our club president Bill Bratt in composing a set of club rules and statements. We all had input into creating a web site
http://www.orwl.ca and putting together a series of events. In 2010 we have become known to the OFAH through our interest in and attendance at their meetings and have had representatives from the ministry attend one of our events and teach us about recording fish statistics.
Speaking as the club treasurer, I think we are on track to have a great fishing club.
If there is anything we can do to help get the QRWL off the ground please let us know.
We have the foundation work done and would be happy to work with you to replicate our work, (although it is a work in progress).
We plan on fishing in your area soon, check out our schedule of events. I would be happy to meet with you while we are in the area to see how we could work with you. In fact you are welcome to join us as a guest and meet the guys.
Although I have addressed this to Dan, if there is anyone interested on doing the work to get a club going and would like some help in getting this started please get in touch.
I can be reached at
info@orwl.caAll the best and I'm looking forward to meeting some of you who have shown an interest in getting this started.
