Ventured out on to Scugog and between the two of us we caught 9 walleye and a perch.Let the smaller ones go and kept a few for the table. Not the best ice though 3-4 inches at best and quite a few small open water spots.Walking back after dark was a treat and the ice was making a ton of noise. Would be really leary on going again tomorrow as the weather is only getting warmer. I know its not quinte but hey its still fishin`!!!

was also on scugog yesterday, about 6in ice off the sandbar, lots of noise with those ice rocket sleds runnin, but we managed to catch 4 eyes and missed another 4.got a few perch just before sunset.had a big crack come up the south, sounded like a jet coming over.the ice had pulled away from shore a bit where we went on but a 6ft plank solved that problem.the ice was so clear you could see the weed edges and pick your spots to drill.caught a 3lb eye,as it was comming to the hole you would think it was 10lbs the way the ice was magnifying it.
today was mostly foggy and mild, were supposed to get 5mm rain tonight, and plus 10 by tommorow.long range says its going to get cold next week after tuesday,i would suggest waiting for the cold weather before venturing out on scugog again
be safe rather than sorry,john

Hello,

I was just wondering if someone could help answer a question I was asked regarding Scugog. The question is, if you live in the Quinte or surrounding area (area 8) and made a trip to Scugog, could you legally bring home a limit of 6 fish (legal limit on Scugog), when the limit in area 8 is only 4? How could you prove they were not caught on Quinte. I think this would be a very interesting situation to be in, if stopped by the Ministry. Would you have any leg to stand on? Any input would be much appreciated.

Hello,

Sorry don't know where the guy with the glasses came from (was supposed to be an 8). This is how the post should have read.

my advice too you is stop at a local bait shop for your minnows, talk up the owner a bit and tell him where your from, what you're fishing for and ask for a receipt for your purchase. explain to him the reason for getting the receipt i'm sure he'll be glad to help, and he will remember you in case they want to contact him.
this way if you get stopped close to quinte on your way home you can prove you were in the scugog area.
