Hi guys, about to order a new set of waders.
These will be the first pair of neoprene ones I've ever had.
I can't decide between 3mm or 5mm.
I would prefer the 5mm for durability but don't wanna roast in them in warmer weather.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Go with the thicker ones, the insulation is in the boots anyway, just wear track pants under them in warmer weather or shorts. The thicker ones are way better for durability and the seams are tougher too.

It also depends on what you want them for. If you only want them for summer use and not going to bang them up, the 3 mm might be ok. But if you want to get more out of them, go with the 5 mm. The water always keep you cooler anyway plus you can use them earlier and later in the season with the colder water.

I think I'll just get the 5mm. They will mostly be used in warmer weather but cold temps and hunting situations will probably happen as well.
Next concern is I tried on a pair a CT yesterday. I wear a size nine boot and the boot of the waders fit perfect but the waders were so tight I couldn't hardly get them on. I then tried on a pair of size ten and they fit good but the boots were huge. Is this normal with neoprenes or just the crappy CT ones?
I will most likely order from Cabelas so you can get regular or stout but only want to have to order them once.

2 years ago I paid 250 for a pair of waders that I thought was good from BPS. I am now on my 3rd pair as the other ones leaked like crazy. ( they came good with warantee) I got the shoe in one size up for the reason on colder days you can put a regular pair of socks and a good pair of wool socks in them. The only problem that I have with my 5mm thick waders is that they are hot and sweat lots(even in the coolder temps).

I have Lacrosse waders, they are huge on me but in the colder weather it's nice to be able to layer under them. Go one shoe size larger like Sheldon said, extra socks are nice.

The Cabela's stout ones are good, they are bigger in the legs, stomach and chest. It is nice to be able to get your parka inside them late season. It's a lot warmer that way too.

Thanks so much for all the insight fellas.
My shoe size is really an 8 to 81/2 depending on shoe.
I always buy my boots in a 9 to allow for thicker/extra socks anyways so I'm thinking the 9 wader will be perfect.
I actually changed my mind and I think I'll get a 3mm in stout that way I don't roast when its warmer and if its cold I'll be able to layer up without any issues.
