Does anyone know is it normal for them to still have milk this time of year. there was a smaller deer with her I am thinking it was her yearling but it had no spots I figure the smaller one to be about 80-90lbs. the one I shot in the picture was just over 150lbs but when I dressed her she still had milk and I was just wondering if it is normal. thanks for your help. Also when I shot her it was a double lung and those broadheads that excallibur make the boltcutters they really work well and broke ribs on both sides also was using lumanoks they make it awsome to follow your shot would recommend them for sure along with the botlcutter broadheads.

If you look at Grizzly's picture in the trail camera thread, there is a picture of a fawn still nursing. The smaller deer you saw was most likely the fawn. They lose their spots at the end of summer\early fall. You can tell a fawn by it's short nose and smaller size. Some are still nursing in fall, but for the most part, fawns are done by now and onto regular food. You will occasionally see last years fawn with the doe as well, but they will only be slightly smaller and the nose will be almost full length. If you ever have a chance to see all three together, the doe and this years fawn will stick together much closer than with last years fawn.
You'll learn to tell the difference with experience.
