Quinte Fishing

Hi all, Iam coming to the Picton area for some eye fishing Nov 4 to Nov 7 (hope its still not too early) just wondering if anyone knew a web site that had maps of the Picton Bay area that shows shoals reefs etc. Not a must, we normally hit our same spots and do good but a bit more knowledge never hurts. Good luck to all and thank whoever started this site, its like porn too me.

The hotspots maps are very good. Not sure where you can get them though, Bass Pro maybe?
I got mine a few years ago at Carra's but they have since closed.
Maybe one of the other guys knows of someplace else that carries them.

I haven't personally been out but the reports are a fair amount of fish being marked but not alot of fish being caught yet.
I think its still a bit early but the cooler night are definately helping.
I plan on being out on the weekend at some point and if I do go i'll report back with my findings.

Get a chart, They are better than any fishing map and one of your required safety items. Save you from having to prove knowledge of the area to some cop.

Fish Hunter is right on, Fishing Hot Spots maps are great.
There are two you need for the area:
M473 BoQ East Section (Telegraph Narrows to Upper Gap)
M498 BoQ West Section (Trenton to Telegraph Narrows)
Call 1-800-ALL-MAPS
In Ottawa you can buy these at World of Maps www.worldofmaps.com they would probably ship them to you.
Both maps are waterproof.

Call your closest marina and they should be able to tell you who has charts in your area. Charts won't tell you where the fish are but they show the structure that hold fish. when you get your fishing map or chart draw line of sight ranges(this lines up with that sort of thing) all over it for quick reference to finding your location.

i have the lake ontario one, i find it works great for bass, but as i dont walley fish past the picton ferry, there isnt very many shouls in the bay, i think best best is to pick up a dual beam fish finder with gps, if you dont all ready have one, bass pro had one on for 299. i cant remember the model number, but it looked decent, i have dual lowarance hd-5's on my boat, and love them, they are more expensive thou, like 699

I have some maps that may help, I have attached small samples so you can see them, the originals are 2500 x 1932 pix to big to attach. I was wondering if there may be a spot where we could attach these to site so that everyone could use them. Send me a e-mail and I will send them to you.

Hey Jason,

Are you using a fishfinder with GPS capabilities? If so, I stronglyencourage you to purchase a Navionics Chart. It's a small chip that you insert in to your graph. Depending on the chart you purchase (I recommend Platinum Edition, Great Lakes), it will provide you with all the information you need and more. The most cost effective in Canada for charts is Radioworld.ca. Not to mention you are treated like gold when you walk in the door.

If you do not own a unit such as this, do you own an iPhone or
Droid?
If not, visit their respective "App Stores" and search for Navionics. You can download the charts directly to your phone! It's simply amazing!

Don't forget, not only are these charts good for open water, they are equally important during the hardwater season.
