don't want to pis# anyone off,but what would the members of this board think of putting a slot limit on musky? say the majority of fish that seem to target the walleye,from 24 to34 inches.these would be fish of a substantial size that fillets could be harvested.seasonal limits to one fish per day with a one time harvest of one fish over 50 inches all others would have to be released.
just a suggestion,in the interest of maintaining all forage species,
please don't crucify me this because i don't particularly like musky.

The population of muskies in the bay is so low as not to be any significant impact on walleye populations, thus any increase in harvest would not be justified and would only hurt a slowly recovering species.
Most of the predation in the bay is from pike, which are increasing in numbers due to clearer water.
The pressure on walleyes comes from increased competition from sight feeders ie: largemouths and northerns in the clearer water.
Largemouth numbers are really up and making the Bay one of the best bass spots in the province.
But by the catches of large numbers of smaller fish last summer it looks like we got a really good spawn a few years ago, something we havent gotten in ages.
All in all its looking up.
