[Like how's it goin', eh? Just in case you are wondering who I am, I am passthepitonspete [aka the diabolical Dr. Piton] who is somehow "locked out" of his own identity here on the "Beg & Brag Board", and is unable to retrieve a password that works. Somewhere we allegedly have a Webmaster who can FIX this problem for us, because I am not the only user "locked out." If you are also "locked out" of your identity, please click here and tell the Webmaster of your problem! You need to be logged in to get my email address, so if you're locked out - but want to join in the lure order - you can email me at peterzabrok@cogeco.ca]
JOIN ME IN ORDERING SOME MANN'S STRETCH 20+ LURES!
Here's the scoop: I travel down to Kentucky every six weeks or so, where I am part of the team exploring
Roppel Cave, which is part of the Mammoth Cave System, the world's longest. I'd be willing to have a bunch of these lures mailed to a friend of mine down there, and bring them back to Canada for y'all, thus
avoiding the rather onerous shipping, customs, brokerage and duty charges that have dinged a few of you guys who have mail-ordered the things up to Canada, eh?
"Shipping Charges (Non-U.S. Orders)
We only ship international orders by UPS Express. You will receive an email with actual shipping charges, based on weight of your order, for approval prior to shipping. In our experience, International Shipping charges are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than what USA charges are ...You are also responsible for all taxes and custom fees."
It's possible that Mann's website might
not be the best place to buy these things.
"This online store is provided as a convenience to you - our customer. Please check for our products with your local fishing store first, because of local knowledge, immediate availability, and better prices. Ordering from us will also incur shipping and handling charges."
They write this because they don't want to tick off their distributors by selling the lures directly to us for less! This is typical of any manufacturer - you'll rarely get a better price ordering direct from them. You might find a better price from one of the distributors.
Mann's website sells
Stretch 20+ lures for $5.75 U.S.. [Unfortunately, I can't give you a direct link to that page because it is framed, and I don't "get" how to do it. You'll have to follow the links - do a search on their website for "Stretch 20+" and you'll get there....] This is actually an OK price, though you never know if you might find some on sale somewhere. For instance, you can click here to see where
eAngler sells Mann's Stretch 20+ lures for $5.79 - $7.39 U.S.
I'll order these things with my VISA card, and you can pay your amount for the lures plus your pro-rata share for the within-the-U.S. shipping charges, which are as follows:
Shipping Charges (U.S. Orders Only)
Total Order ($)
Shipping Charge ($)
$0.00 -- $30.00 --- $6.00
$30.01 - $50.00 --- $7.00
$50.01 - $75.00 --- $8.00
$75.01 - $100.00 --- $9.00
$100.00 or greater --- 10% of order total (max $20.00)
Here's a look at the colours they're made in. I have no idea what the availability of them is:
Here's a better look at six of the colours:
There are
two ways you can pay me.
The first way is to
PayPal me to my email:
peterzabrok@cogeco.ca You can click here to
visit PayPal and figure out how it works. It's pretty easy, actually. Be sure to make it in
$U.S., and send it as
"Quasi-Cash" which is basically a credit to my PayPal account.
The second way is to go to any TD-Canada Trust branch, and stick the money in my account.
If you want to
order some stuff, here is your
DR. PITON HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT which consists of
three things:
Thing #1: Say so here by making a post on this thread, and gimme an approximate idea of what yer lookin' for.
Thing #2: Have a look through the www, and see if you can find a better deal for these things than the $5.75 that Mann's is charging. I would offer to do this, however I reckon I am doing enough already! So I am delegating this particular task.
Thing #3: Email me at
peterzabrok@cogeco.ca and we'll work out the exact numbers and method of payment.
I live in
Oakville, about four minutes' drive from the QEW, so you can come to my place and pick 'em up, and like, we can talk fish stories and have a beer, eh? I could also leave them at my dad's place in
Ancaster [on the west mountain above Hamilton, about three minutes from the 403] or possibly arrange to leave some in north-western
Waterloo. Otherwise maybe we can figure something else out.
As for "shipping and handling," the diabolical Dr. Piton will charge a service fee of
absolutely nothing, however
"donations of beer will be greatly appreciated!" [HINT] Anything "dark" like Guinness or Waterloo Dark will work. In fact, you can get this really swell
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout at like The Beer Store, eh?
I'm going down to Kentucky February 13-16, which is probably too soon. How 'bout we aim for pick-up during my next trip, which will be
March 19-21?
Anyway, get at 'er, and see what yous can dig up on the net, and we'll start getting this together, eh?
Cheers and have a beauty day,
Pete
