I am looking to buy a pair of rods strictly for running my offshore inline boards. I seem to be using them more and more.
Does anyone have some feed back on a good make and model?

I have 2 St. Croix GT80M planer board rods. They are a 8' glass telescopic rods designed for small in-line planers. I just checked the St Croix Rods website and they have a new model for 2004. It is the PGT80MM. I am not familiar with this new model, but my 2 year old GT80Ms are great. They were recommended to me by a friend who works with St. Croix and from PWT anglers from other message boards.

These rods also are great for long lining, as they are 8' long. Mine have foam handles and do not wear significantly when placed in rod holders.

These rods are coupled with Daiwa SG27LC reels and this setup is a great combo. I believe I saw a new smaller LC from Daiwa on the Cabelas web site which may result in a lighter setup.

Darren, I run 8'6" Daiwa Heartland's medium action downrigger rods coupled with Daiwa accudepth 27 reels. These rod tips are much softer and lighter than the shimano TDR's and only $32.95 at Le Baron. This set combined with spiderline xxx mono 12lb test ( diameter smaller than 8 lb test) with barrel swivel and 5' 8lb Vanish fluorocarbon lead resulted in 160 Walleye's over 10lbs. boated and successfully released this fall on BOQ with no breaks (re-tie each trip). Just one more question. Are these rods up for some big steelhead?
I like to run my boards in the spring-early summer on Lake Ontario for big surface running steelies.
It would be great if they could kill two birds with one stone.
I am just using my TDR's right now.
