Anywhere there's solid ice (4-5" +) will be fine. I know I'll be out there.

I personally don't think so, but of course I could be wrong. One day isn't much.

I remember getting a call to go fishing two years ago......... I think it went like this...... ASSASSIN you told me to call at 5 you still going out! . ASSASSIN mumbles, darn he called........... then said yes grizz toot your horn and ill get you at shore...... Grizz says you sure, its starting to rain and its been awefull warm..... ASASSIN yes grizz I SAID TOOT YOUR HORN!!!
Off i go and get to the bay, and toot toot toot toot toot I see the shack I see the bike toot toot toot toot dame the guy is deft..... soooooooooooooo off I walk out on the ice, a huge fog bank rolls in and here I stand in the middle of the fog out on the ice yelling ASASSIN ASSASSIN ASSASSIN........ thinking to myself oh brother, then I hear GRIZZ. thru the dence fog ASSASSIN> GRIZZ>> ASSASSIN>>>>>>>GRIZZ........... finly I find him in the fog and rain on ice that was slick and ready like the ice on game night........
Ok im getting to my point here soon........... So we fish it rains we fish more it rains more and fish rain rain fish fish fish the hole below our feet is flowing and growing water flowing down like a toilet on speed flush. three hours we talked and fished and listened to the rain on the tin roof of basecamp one ASSASSIN!! ....... score grizz 3 perch and sore sides,,,,,,, Assassin. a sore side and no perch. man was it ever fun that winter thaw.......... holes on the ice became 2 foot around the whole serface had 5 inches of water on it, each hole drilled was acting like a toilet bowl just teraring up the ice when we started that day it was 18 inches thick,,,,,,,, next day it was down to 6 inches........ by the grace of god right behind the warm was a nice cold snap and made the ice better in one day....... thats not the case this week. so be careful its going to be soft, and weak if you only started with 6 inches lets say Yesterday! ........... if the creeks rise and flow you dont wanna be near any currents ........ to answer the question will there be ice....... my answer is yes, just where and how safe is for the experianced to find out . be safe guys lots of season left!

Chuck..chuck..chuck..your memory is at best a little faulty..your story is true but you are very economical with the facts...the part about the rain and ice is true..the part about you getting lost in the fog and me rescueing you was a little short...but your recollection of how you out fishing me was under stated...I drilled both holes and gave you your choice..and then you sat there and pulled one after another...you went outside to relieve yourself and I cut your line...and somehow a fish got tangled up in the loose line and you still caught another...it was then I decided that we would never play cards or pool unless we were partners..hahaha GL

With the temps up and all the rain even the "safe spots" will be iffy. There is lots of season left, we aren't usually out there til after NewYears...Find a back lake or sharpen up your hooks like the rest of us..I'm staying off the Bay til she stiffins up again. Gary

Why not try Scugog fo jumbo perch or crapy may be a little more safe and always fun. Monday may be great with the freeze comming on Sunday night and Picks open then. Try east shore.

Guys,

I fished Huff's the last two evenings. The ice had changed from one day to the next. Tuesday night the ice was hard and solid taking a bit of time to spud a hole. Last night I fished within a few feet of my holes from the night before. The spud went through the ice very fast. I've never cut holes so fast. It also appeared that the ice was thinner. That's hard to judge at Huff's since, you can move over a few feet and loss an inch of ice.

Even though the fishing has been fantastic, I'm passing on going out at Huff's again, until things cool down.
