Huff Road - Feb 9/04

Was out to fish this AM with Laker-John ( I thought he was using ' Laker ' as his name but it wasn't him).

Three others out when we arr'd and another arr'd as we hit the ice at 0930.

We fished til 1230, three left at 1030, and the lone fisher left at 1130.

The lone fisher from Hay Bay had a hit and the fish escaped, it got our blood circulating.

THAT WAS IT for action...............

The fish are very slow to bite, that was the word from the others on the ice and it is what we saw and experienced.

That will be it for Hard-water fishing for the season. Two and a half months (approx) til soft-water action in Quinte. April 1st on the North Channel.

Superdad, what area do you consider "North Channel". As I understand the regs, all walleye fishing on Lake Ontario commences the first Saturday in May. Or, do I stand corrected. Please clarify. Regards, Hawg1

have you been trying the darties.i have yet to make a trip down to the bay and not get at least one fish on them.last time down i got two nice fish but that was for 12hrs of jigging.heading down on the 20 for the weeking to try one last time for the winter.

Tried, Jigging Rapala, Hay Bay LArry's small Gold spoon, Mr Champ, Swedish Pimple, Little Cleo.

All of thr above drew a blank -Pt Anne fish apparently like Mr.Champ.

Don't feel bad Superdad. I fished for over 6 1/2 hours there Sunday and nothing bit. My hut blew over though because of the strong wind. I tried using minnows on a rattling jig head. Walleye Central in the States claim they wake up the eyes by using rattle jig heads during slow periods. But not this time.
