Just a question for the sonar/Vex guys. When a fish comes on the screen what techniques do yo use to make him commit. I read about Hodgey using the "Teasing the cat with a piece of string methods" along with the fleeing bait. What has been a good go to method??

Have a look at this video I took, it's not the greatest video...however, look at the reaction to the walleye when the bait is raised above it's head. The walleye goes from being not really interested to totally interested. BTW - I did manage to catch that fish 10 min later off camera...LOL

Walleye starts @ about 50sec in

Cheers, Hodgey...

There is really no wrong or right way to work the fish as patterns change all the time depending on how active the fish are. Best advice I can add to this post is if it showed up to have a look then don't stop doing what you did to get him there.
If anything speed things up a little with more of a snap to your jig. Try not to let the bait fall past the fish on the first couple attempts. If things are still not happening then let the bait smash to bottom and do a couple long slow lifts.... as long as you can reach... then let the rod tip beat the line back down to the hole for a 100% free fall.
The best tip anyone here can take away from this post is CLEAN...CLEAN...CLEAN the area around your hole. If your working a fish the last thing you want is your line getting caught on old frozen slush and getting all tangled and frayed. Be sure to pay attention to how the previous fish reacted to your jigging pattern and adapt your techniques to fit the fish.
Hope this tip helps some.
Jason
