My neighbor loves to fish and has been after me to take him on the ice to see what its all about. so today being as warm as it was i figured it would be a good day to go and mess around a bit and see how he likes it. I gotta tell you boys its hard to give up big fish for little fish but nothing really beats the action one can have on a smaller lake........ we landed a few pike, a few bass, and a few perch in a few hours. I startyed him fishing blinde at first then turned him loose with the flasher lol. only thing missing was howling wind and brutal cold weather but i think the kid really liked the fair weather ice and he managed a few fish on the topside and that made it all worth it to me!

His first ever fish on the ice, go figure it would be a bass lol then he followed it up with a few perch and a pike

I couldnt resist taking a picture of this perch go figure its as nice of a perch as you would find out on the bay for sure pretty fish!

So a few hours passed and off the ice we went so he could head on back to college and im resting for a fight with some quinte pigs in the morning.. be safe boys, keep your eyes on the ice!

Yah Bill that lad has fished the soft water for a few years with me now, and we finly got in a hardwater trip, I have a soft spot for young guys My own father wasnt much on hunting or fishing, and i was taken in by a few older guys in my young years and shown the sports and no some how i keep doing that myself maybe its a drive to give back things i was shown and would have never known if it wasnt for mentors in my life. who knows but it is what it is I like kids....... whats odd is my own sons dont hunt or fish much lol I never force it on them . its more like the train is going either get on or ill see you later lol I have great sons, maybe one day they will get in the game lol

I have fished the lake for years and look forward the winter to get a bag of those winter perch. May see you out there one day. I was out this week for 2 mornings but haven't found the schools yet they are very scattered.
