First Time to Quinte

Hey everyone, Going to Quinte for he first time, last weekend of Jan. The wife is finally letting me go. Any help as to a place to stay and where to start. Have my own portable and Quad to get around. NO need to give your honey hole away just a spot for a chance.

since your comming that late god willing there will be alot of ice and the fish will be all over the place......... hard to tell you now whats going to happen then but as a rule you will have safe places to go all over the place, and since you are on a bike i guess i would suggest you stay right in belleville and leave from one of the city ramps either george street or hercamur (SP) you have time to check the maps or google mapquest that area.......... as a rule its good fishing and gives you great bike access, with lodging close at hand . good luck to you!

I really cant buddy I married a woman up here so i have a place to stay but i wouldnt reccomend that to just anyone lol....... but im sure there is a few places to pick from........ you wont be there much so cheap is good right ?? lol..... if possible try to come mid week. better fishing with less guys, and cheaper rates..... come on guys someone else help the guy out with places to stay!!! im at a loss not knowing the moteles/hotels in the area all that well

Tks again Grizz, I will check it out. I mostly ice fish lake erie, long point. Perch and pike. Once u find them there's not much moving. It's like when u find the perch hwy u stay put. Is it the same for the walleye, or do u have to keep moveing all over. To get on them?

hey wabler. thats a real tough question to answer mainly because of the diversity of the BOQ to begin with,,, remember its really a big body of water thats broken up in smaller areas. so fishing lets say long reach narrow but deep is alot different than fishing big bay thats wide and much more shallow and a big flat. or the bellvile area where its has different places or the best of both worlds when the winter is good and the ice is solid. you have deep. you have flats, narrows, pockets to fish. this is the reason I sugested to you bellville at that time of the year, you can move around if need be or you could get lucky hit a spot and fish it all day with no real reason to move!! im pretty sure this places is no different than most good days and bad , feeding times like morning and night when its hot then slows down in between, if you want to fish all day and catch fish all day then you can either hope there is a all day bite or your going to have to pick up your game and really work for the fish. hope that helps you.. Hey Grizz. thanks your help is vary much appreciated. I guess it's shallow in morning. deepper in aft then back to shallow for the eve. Just keep the lines wet i guess, and drill lots of holes. If i get skunked the first day, I'll have to buck up and get a guide, but don't tell wife how much $$. lol.
Any guide services in Bellville.?

Definatly guides around, some advertize right on the boards here look up top of the page you will see there adds. a few good small time guides out there who dont advertize more than word of mouth. i know a few guides and they are ALL good at what they do and seem to work different areas of the bay i would sugest contacting them and listen to what they have to say........ maybe some of them will contact you. hard to say just be sure to tell them what you want and were you want to fish or where they like to fish then go from there. i think the BOQ is like 67 klms long so guides work different areas weather your in trenton belleville,deseronto. haybay or long reach.. maybe a good thing to ask when calling first off is what area they fish the most if that matches where you happen to be staying all the more better for you.......... good luck!

hey wabler, I recently got back from a trip to Quinte. We stayed at the bayside motel which is between belleville and trenton. access from the motel right onto the ice and it was like 60 bucks a night. There was some good fishing out from the motel. lots of eyes being caught (few 10# and a 12#) , jumbo perch and even a 5lb largemouth. Generally where the huts are is a good place to start. they are there for a reason
