Hello a branch off from a previous post about fishfinder advice, I ended up going with this particular model, ordered it yesterday AND RECEIVED IT TODAY (Fast service from Radioworld). Question is, it seems to be a different type of model than pictured. There is no swing out arm for the transducer but rather a rubber string you tie off and it comes with 2 small tackle boxes that slide underneath the unit itself contained in the pouch. I was wondering if anyone else has this style and if you like it over the swing out arm style that I thought I was going to receive as pictured. I've never used one of these things and wish it came with better newbie instructions. I feel like a fish out of water. I'm hoping when I pick a guide, it's one that doesn't just take me out to catch fish, I'd like to go out with one that can show me how to be independent using this new marvel for independence. I feel like a fishg out of water when it comes to ice fishing lol

Hello Tint by Attain: Congrats on your purchase. I also use the X67C and it works for me. First off the swing out arm IMO was not very well designed. I lost it throught the hole a few years ago. I have taken a piece of pipe insulation glueing rubber chair leg pads onto each end, cut holes to fit the wire which I have attached 80 lb flouro leader to add a little strength. I have a small rubber stopper up the wire to keep it from going up too far. Now I just put it in the hole and away we go. As far as operation goes I have it set on ice mode & flasher mode with the ping speed and chart speed at 100%. The zoom function allows you to see all of the view on the right and the bottom 6 feet on the left. When I first started I downloaded the emulator from Lowrance website and after reading a few forums starting playing with the settings. It just requires a little playing until you get it to work the way you want. Good luck out there and feel free to PM me if you have any further questions.

Dito. Good purchase!

The arm is a POS IMO. I also did the pipe insulation mod. I taped the transducer wire to the supplied metal rod, put the pipe insulation around all of that and zipp tied it all. Buy keeping the metal rod on the transducer this will take the stress of the wire going into the transducer. I am not sure if the wire going into the tranducer was designed to take all the weight. I know people had problems with the VEXs with stress on the wire.

What did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking???

I paid $330 + 13% Shipping was $10 next day I got it. I feel better thatthis is the reason they must have given me the one they did then based on both your experience. As far as thE tranducer , they made a hole on the toP of it to secure the rubber string supplied to lower it down. Stupid question but I've never used one: do you set the tranducer just at the water line where you drill the hole or do you lower down the hole down to the depth of the thickness of the ice?

You will want the ducer just below the ice.

If you are on clear black ice and you put some water on the ice you can check depths without even popping a hole. Works great early and late in ther season, not so much when there is more then 8" of ice but have got it to work occasionally

Congrats on the purchase! I bought one a year ago and love it! As for that arm thingy.... what did I do with it again...? I took 6 inches of copper pipe insulating foam and used electrial tape to hold it together. The wire has a little play in it but for the most part it doesn't slide through. I just drop the transducer in the hole and away I go! Good luck with figuring out the settings though lol

I love my X67 ice machine.duo purpose I use the head for the front of my boat in summer. I have had no problems in 3 years,I just let the transducer hang off the arm.Talked to a Lowrance tech at sportsmen show,he said the cable should support the transducer it is strong enough,3 years no problem yet (touch wood) :!:

This link will take you to the Emulator page - download the manual first then download the emulator file for your model - to your desktop. You can practice and learn the buttons right at home.

hey there, I've had my x67 for 4-5 years now and love it. The arm??? chuck it...it's junk. I don't use anything for the transducer I just bind it up with tape or shoelace or whatever is convenient so that it hangs just below the ice. The nice thing is I can just pick it up and walk to another hole, dunk it and get an instant reading for fish and depth. As for settings go to websites for some of the magazines out there. Infisherman, outdoor Canada, Ontario out of Doors etc. They all do articles on tweaking your settings on a regular basis. Once you've got it figured it's like a video game. Watching the bottom couple of feet of the water column turn orange/red with a school of jumbo's is awesome! Catching a walleye on a jig when you know he is there is nice too but the coolest is watching a whitefish shoot from 80 feet down to smash a spoon as it's falling past 40 feet. The trick about pouring water on the ice to get a depth reading does work too. I've even done it on Simcoe and registered a school of perch before I drilled the hole. It was awesome!!! Have fun with it and don't forget it's a must during summer fishing too. I've put the suction cup on the back of my buddy's salmon boat and been able to watch for bait fish at the back of the boat while still keeping an eye on the rods.

Tight lines.

Sounds like I'm going to enjoy it! I hope just to get going, I can turn it on ice mode and it'll help me out. I havent had a chance to really study it b4 heading out with it for the first time tomorrow.
