Hey folks, I am in need of some help with my heater. Hopefully someone out there can help me. So I just bought one of the Mr.Heater portable buddy heaters and I wanna hook it to a big 20lb bbq tank, in the manual its saying there are several types of hoses to get for it and with certain ones you need a fuel filter with it.

My question is, this heater cost me about 150 and I am wondering if just a normal hose that's used for bbq's and the camping grills is the type of hose that there asking for?
Or do I now have to go out and spend another 15 - 30 bucks on one certain hose for this heater?

Please help
Thanks in advance

You will probably need to get another hose. The hose that you would need has the BBQ tank fitting on one end and the other end has the fitting with the same thread as a propane cylinder. I don't think you need one with a filter.

Hey attain, I called home hardware on highway 2 across from macdonalds. I was in the same position as you are right now. Called everywhere and they were sold out. I got the last one at that place, but try the hardware store out #2, I think its rona or something. Keep trying the different ones around town. Even try trenton hardware stores or picton. I tried stirling sat and they were out too. Maybe even try tweed. I know crappy is tryin to get more in, he was gonna call yesterday to see if he can get them.

Not sure when u need it by but you could order one from bass pro and have it shipped down

Yes you need a proper hose with fittings.

Canadian tire in Belleville had the hoses a couple of weeks ago.

the manufacture sells two types. the rubber one is the one to get. it says flexible in the cold. if you buy the manufactures plastic one, it requires a filter cause of oils in the plastic. if you can find a rubber one buy it. try fishin world in Hamilton or Princess Auto in Whitby. or the manufactures web site has them. i tried the coleman one from CT before and it will not un coil when cold. it was a real pain.

As far as a hose you can get them most places. Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, etc. The type of hose you want is about 3 or 4 feet long, or longer if you want but the one end screws onto your BBQ tank and the other end looks like the end on a green 1lb propane bottle. If you look at the heater were the tank goes on you will see what i am talking about. If you are going to run your Mr.Heater from a 20lb tank I strongly suggest you run a filter as the 20lb tank is filled from a non filtered source and you will get a small amount of oil and dirt from them. This is not an issue with your BBQ but your Mr.Heater is a screened infrared element and the oil will ruin it, I have two that i have to repair for this reason. Your Coleman 1lb bottles are filtered when filled at the factory. The filter you want can be ordered from home hardware for around 12 bucks and it is Home Hardware item number 5530036 Filter, Fuel Buddy Mr Heater. I just ordered two last week from the Picton store. I use this same filter on my adapter i made for refilling my 1lb Coleman bottles and it works great. Hope this helps you.

Princess Auto in Whitby no longer sells the heaters. Apparently they're "seasonal" and they are now loading up for the summer. They may have hoses though. I just returned a 3000btu heater, that pretty much did nothing after I realized that my coleman lantern throws about double the heat, and also provides enough light.
