I haven't heard any news about huffs or long reach. Has anyone been out there fishing yet this year or not? two years ago it was shanty village out there when frozenflyguy and I went out during the second week of Feb. Last year there was no permanent huts out there and this year I haven't heard boo from the area. Frozenflyguy, Jaggers, Bluegill guy and I will be heading out there the first weekend of Feb so I hope the ice will hold us all.

I've been watching the board for the last few weeks and the only thing I've heard about huffs is the odd person saying that they are heading there but never posting on there results or ice conditions. Other than the post of a guy driving his jeep cherokee out to drop off his gear only to drive back to shore and walk back out. I'm not sure he was to bright and wouldn't take any recomendations from him very serious.

Was out at Huffs a couple of times before the new year and the fishing was great. Haven't been since the thaw but have heard a couple reports that it has started to die off there. Haven't been out to the Sherman's point end yet this year. Try talking to the guys at the Dew drop inn bait store, they are right by Huffs and have always been helpful with me as far as where to go and what the ice conditions are like.

I've been at Huffs since first ice, has only failed me once over 20 visits there. I personnally prefer Huffs over Shermans only because your hook up rate to an Eye is about 20 times higher, that is if you're into feeding the perch. Don't get me wrong, still perch at Huffs.

Was there today, not many eyes on the ice for 40 people, got a small one (1.5lb) and 1 perch. Ice was about 6 in where I was sitting off to the left. Fished it early Jan and did well, first time back since and not hearing any good numbers. Not much slush, and snow was only few inches deep so easy walking compaired to Old Church where there is lots of slush and snow and Perch, Lots of pesky perch, did I mention Perch.

Went to huffs last night. caught one small one at around 3:30 on a macho minnow, back down the hole, then the screen went blank for 2 hours, didn't mark a fish, then at around 5: 20-to 5:35 marked about half of dozen but no takers. 6 of us out and nothing.

I guess thats fishing right. At least you were able to see some on the screen which is always encouraging and keeps you focused.

Tons of people at Huffs every night. I stay away because fishing in a crowd like that often doesn't produce.
Walleye aren't used to seeing 80 shiny jigs in front of them .....too much noise , too much activity in the water. I think the fish screw off under these circumstances.

I couldn't agree more. The amount of times I fished near crowds you can hardly even hear your buddy talk to you when he only 10 feet away.

i like the crowds, they push the eyes out to the sides where i position myself,at least 100 ft away, doesnt always work but many times it does!!so the more crowded an area, get 100 ft away an do your own thing, but when they start hitting keep it down or the crowd will be in your pockets!!!Ed-good fishin
