There's more to fishing than catching fish.

As Superdad says "there is more to fishing than catching fish" here is another" many men go fishing without realizing it's not the fish they are after" think about that one for a while. Enjoy the time out there with friends, if you get some fish that's a bonus.BTW I have been skunked more times this year than I like to admit. :-)

The last ime I was up...A few years ago....I watched a small hawk chase a dove all around the ice for at least 20 min before finally anchoring it's breakfast. I caught A LOT of fish on that trip but I remember the hawk vs. dove matchup the most. I rarely use a shelter for the exact same reason. I don't want to spend hours looking at the same four walls. Simply looking down the Reach or across Hay Bay gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. As I get older, actually catching a fish has taken a back seat to the scenery, wildlife, and overall experience. My Bucket, Vex, Gear, Bait, Sunflower Seeds and Chewing Tobacco......What more does a man need?

There are walleye , but between the immense pressure of netting , spearing and all of the sports fishermen , walleye numbers are down. Quinte is more known for lunkers than quantity.
Guides are a bad idea .... Walleye bite when they want to bite. I used Merland Park for a full day and we caught one sheephead!
I picked up no useful tips , but did give alot of money away.

i agree with Triggereleven to an extent, the netting has to go,,but i marked more walleyes this fall with my units and aqua view than in many previous years, in november my main engine got tangled in an unmarked net, pissed me off,i cut the netting off, tried to pull the net into the shallows, no go ,full of dead fish, eyes, cats, drum, everything,i called the coastguard, gave them the gps co-ordinates,shermans pt area, this sort of thing has to stop, the game wardens are out checkin for licences but they have to put in the effort to get the poachers running nets, something has to give hopefully not the fish!!!Ed-good fishin

Don't give up. This is the Bay of Quinte. One of the best bodies of water to fish for trophy walleye in the country. There are good chances of hooking into fish 10 pounds plus. Where else can you go in Ontario to be fortunate enough to have such a high productivity of trophy fish? There are still many weeks left in the season, even if you land one fish, it could be 15 pounds. If I only caught one fish all season and it was 15 pounds I would be more than happy. Sure I would pack it in on any other body of water. But not Quinte.
