Quinte Fishing

Hey Guy's

Heading to Belleville 3:30am sat for a weekend fish with a buddy, 3.5hr drive and never bin before (have lots of ice exp thou). Any suggestion for a morning fish, have a quad/portable to bring. How thick is the ice in the area?

george street. if you have a quad and all that gear what you need first is parking, and if yer hitting Belleville thats the place. head out from there. since you have a quad you have open ice many dont have them so they walk til they are tired and drill holes and fish......... there is no X marks the spot out there buddy its up to you to find the fish and catch them........... my only sugestion is follow trails and if you look down an area and so no one fishing and no trails out to that area it should tell you something, its probably just not safe snow has been on for a month now should not be hard to follow trails where people have been fishing............... use your head out there, be safe, dont let that ATV get you into trouble. and good luck! . PS... when you go blasting by some poor SOB who is dragging his azz in deep snow lugging his gear. maybe just maybe you wanna offer to tow his gear out or back depending on his direction of travil you ask for help here maybe you would ask to help someone out there! WABLER...welcome to the area,stay safe and have a blast.i cant offer much advice cause this is my first year on ice and my lucks not been to good...just keep the line in the water apparently..lol

thanks grizz, i was thinking of george st or herc ave. So it looks like george st to start. Yes i do help guys out with there gear, I use to be one of thoes guys and know how it feels walkin. Long Point bay is where i usually fish and it is a good 1.5 to 3km walk to the fish. It was never a fun walk but always well worth it.
thanks for all the help grizz will let u know how we made out. Hopefully with some pictures of some Quinte Gold lol.
P.S. Will be in a Red honda qaud and yukon if ya need a lift.

i dont mind the walk...not at all really.all part of 'getting away' from it all ya know.all im worried bout is that slushy spot near george launch bouy..i heard it was a crack but i know the water 'changes' temp,flow near there.just hope i dont end up in the drink.thats sh1t scares me

I was off Herchimer and George street area on Wednesday with the atv . And there are a few slushy spots that you can not tell untill you break through the top layer of snow. It is a little weird feeling when you are zippin along and all of a sudden you drop 4 inches and splash right into 6 inches of slush. As long as you keep your speed up you should be fine. Not much to hook up a winch too out there. Like Grizz said stay on the existing trails.

tks catcher, did u hit any fish on wed? and what the ice thickness? Ya those slush hole really suck, been in a few before.
