Hello, we need some advice

A small group of us is making the trip up to Quinte in early February. We've fished it before but just curious what type of lures seem to have better success? We've used Macho Minnows, Swedish pimples, Buck Shots and champs (all usually tipped with minnows) in the past but a little more variety would be nice. Any help would be good, thanks in advance. We plan on fishing the Shermans Point area is that a good area or should we be trying other areas? Heard a lot about Huffs Road, is that better for winter fishing than Shermans point? What depth should we be targeting, SP seems a little shallow, no?

Looking at the lures you mentioned are all faster dropping baits. Sometimes they want baits with a slower rate of fall. sidewinders, Lucky strike rockets, cleos, williams wobblers

Try jiggin raps, have been working for me the couple trips I have made this year. W7 in the new Glow Perch has done well.

Stick with what you know. By far the biggest thing is getting on active fish or being there when the fish are active. Also, if you don't have a Vexilar Fish Finder or some other knock off......BUY ONE AND SEE WHAT YOUR MISSING!!!

I have one and another buddy has one on this trip so we should be able to see whats happening (I may bring my aquaview just to see what the bottom looks like, can't fish with it dow (especially for larger fish, the freakin cord can get in the way...been there / done that!)) and target some nice fish......fingers crossed ....should be an awesome time......everyone is counting down....only 7 sleeps to go! :lol:

I usually place my underwater camera around 6-8 feet away from my hole I'm jigging that way the cord does not interfere with anything I've hooked and I seem to get a much better view of what's going on down there.

BigGene thanks sounds good but does the current spin the camera, being 6-8 feet it's not easily pointed in the right direction. Or don't you have this problem? I bought the tripod accessory but didn't help this problem. Plus how high off bottom do you set it? Thanks in advance BigG

I have a tripod with the remote, when fishing low or no current areas it's fine, you can adjust it easily and less often, usually suspend it off the bottom 4-5 feet, and angle the weight forward to have the camera pointing townward. I have a Cabelas camera with a sliding weight. In heavy current I have a metal tripod which I attach the camera head to ( it has adjustments for height and angle of camera, it's homemade) and send it to the bottom, once the silt etc. has settled I play with it a little to get it pointing in the right direction by turning the cord from up top and again I'm off to the races.

BigG having an extra weight below the camera to steady it is a great idea, to be honest I'm a little surprised I didn't think of that myself.....lol.....FYI...BigG gets the credit moving forward.

I was questioning whether I would bring the camera on my trip, I figured I would just use the finder/flasher but it may be fun to have it. WOW with all of this equipment, I'm going to need a monster sled moving forward. BUT I guess a toy is a toy, the more the merrier!

I also added an extra light source from aquaview, mini led flashlight, brightens things up a bit.
