When i got home last night i called my cousin to find out how the fishing was down his way yesterday. He was telling me it was some of the best all year and they had a large school of fish that kept circling and there rods where going off every half hour like clock work.
When they came out of there hut to pack up around 10am they started talking to a group of three guys that been just hammering the fish all morning. when they got over to the three guys they were very proud to show off there bag of 17 walleyes (5 over the limit)so my cousin and his friends exchanged words at that point and run them off the ice.
This really pisses me off and i am glad i wasn't there. A lot of us remember the hay days of walleye fishing before the zebra mussels and how plentiful the fishing was. There is a lot of us that have put in a lot of time and effort into bring the walleye back to the numbers they once where. This kind of selfish negligent bull *** is only going to ruin it for fishery of tomorrow. I just hope my grand children will be able to see the bay as the great fishery it once was.

In NY we have a number 1-800 tipp dec Your MNR has this as well

Here ya go: Poaching is a serious and costly crime. It robs ethical anglers and hunters of game and fish, and robs all citizens of our valuable wildlife resources. Poaching can be reduced if concerned citizens report the signs of suspected illegal activity.

If you see or suspect someone of poaching or otherwise abusing a natural resource, please call 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) toll-free any time to report a violation.

You may also contact your local ministry office during regular business hours or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Perfect example of what the hotline should be used for. They knew they were 5 over the limit and didn't care. Greedy poachers. If I was leaving at the same time I would try to get a plate number on the vehicle, then call the tip line.

Protect our natural resources.

i would have exchanged words too!!! guys like that dont appreciate what we got going here in QUINTE !!!! im from Hamilton and enjoying going up to deseronto and dont want to see the fishery go again!!! alot of people have put alot of work in to getting the fishery back to where its at today!!!!!to bad the mnr wasnt around!!!! PLEASE follow THE LIMITS !!!! if your a real angler you will abide by these simple rules!!! and to top it off those guys probably had conservation tag which is even smaller limits than a sport tag!!! because they dont want to pay the extra bucks for the sport tag!!! really pisses me off too!!!!

How do you guys feel about when fishing with a partner or a group...does it automatically increase to a joint limit, and joint limit of fish over 25"? I'll give an example... say 3 guys are out together and 6 fish caught, 3 of them are 25"+ (6lb and over), but 1 guy caught 5... None of them released...

Just curious....and i'm not exactly clear on the legal rules on this...

it,s an individual limit, each guy is allowed 1 over 24.8,and three under, don,t get caught, you will be fined--they dont sell group licences so there is no group limit!!! whoever caught the 5 has to put the rest over 24.8 back, simple!!!! Ed

My Take
Adding to NY regulations, you can at any time ask for a persons proff of hunting or fishing licens, name and address..... iF YOU ASK SOMEONE FOR PROOF and they wont show you it carries a hefty fine to them and gives you the right to call a police officer not just a game worden.
I dont beleve any fish is leagually TRANSFURABLE but it happens all the time. is it ileagle ?? I think thats a moral call but hey my buddy is having a tough day and wants to take home a fish what the heck here is one, have it! I think it all boiles down to possession I dont think its always a good idea to carry your buddies fish in your sled unless he is right there with you bottom line its mathmatics 4 guys , 4 fish each does not equil 17 fish shame on them

Each person is allowed 4 in his posession, nothing says your buddy sitting beside you can't catch one or two of them.

If you have any issues or speculations just call the number, it's there to protect the fishery.

Moto is wrong ,read the regs guys, all fish must be legally angled by the angler, its in there, cant give fish away legally either,i know it happens but its illegal ,unless you count it in your possesion limit, ie-if you catch 4 --and give 3 away your LEGALLY allowed to keep 1,an example of this is --and it was a big write up in the papers--a fairly big salmon tournament-everyone was giving there fish away,5 fish limits,80 boats-to people ,some of these people were caught with way over possesion limits,no licences, absolutely huge fines and the vans were confiscated, the tournament officials were also fined and some of the participants too!!! just saying!!!!!!!

I was thinking that tyo be true myself just didnt know if it was a law up here but i do believe the same holds in the states its counted as part of your limit.... i also believe if a game man watches you catch your limit and keep targeting you can be fined for that since you already have a limit of that fish . so if you have 4 eyes on a stringer your done fishing eyes for the day so you have to change gear and tactics like move in close and use jig heads for perch not still jigging out deep ............. nothing wrong with sport fishing but you should not have a limit stringered and keep going............. i think it boils down to if the game man wants you bad enough lol in the states our wordens are federal . puts them right up there with the FBI and CIA lol ........... end of the day though really like shark says. just make the call dont confront, just call
