Quinte Fishing

I am looking to buy a new or used portable fish finder....since i do most of my fishing on ice, in canoe or in a rental...I am leaning more towards the portable side than a permanently mounted fish finder.

I dont know really where to start, I have seen a few Piranha 4's out there that are a nice portable unit, but i wanted to know if there are other...better options.

Check out the Vexilar FL-8 portable that is now
available at Canadian Tire. I use the model up
from this one for icefishing (The FL-18) It is an
outstanding unit. They cost alot more than the
Humminbird Pirana, but I believe in this case
you get what you pay for. The Vexilar will
out perform the Humminbird hands down in the
winter. I do not have any experience using it
in a boat or canoe in your case but I predict
it would be very good.
