Hi everyone. Yesterday was one of the sadest days on my life!

We found out that our 4 year old daughter has type 1 child Dieabetes. As you can imagine we are very scared and shocked. Being the weekend we are more or less on our own in terms of any counselling at the hospital. My wife is a Nurse. So that helps alot!

I Just wanted to let this out. Maybe someone here has Dieabetes or can relate and comment with some encouraging words.

Life sure is so Precious. Live it to the fullest

Hey, keep your head up buddy. I have had type 1 diabeties for the last 13yrs now. and hasn't slowed me down. top three things to do... good healthy diet along with insuline injections. no candy/sweets. and keep her active.!

the hardest part i find is the diet. as not many pre-packed foods are diabetice friendly. so there is alot of good home cooking to come. there is sweetners like splenda that are excelent for baking and cooking, so keep ontop of the sugar readings try and keep them as normal as posable and she should be fine for a long time to come.]]

but will say themost important thing is to keep blood sgar levels as normal as possable. I find that this diet works the best to keep my readings normal. three small meals along with snacks in-between meals .

it will be trying at times but all will come together after a short time, sugar levels will even out and you will geet her on the correct diet. this is basicly a matter of contorling the food input in relation to the insuline input.

feel free to pm or call me. if you would like a ear or help you understand a bit more

Hang in there fellow angler. I have no idea how much of a scary feeling it must be to have a child with an illness.
My wife is a RN educator and has dealt with a lot of diabetes patients. If you have any questions what so ever or you or your wife need someone to talk to just send us a pm and we can swap some phone numbers. She does a lot of research into stuff all the time and may be able to answer some of your questions.
Anything else I can do for you feel free to ask.
Jason

sorry to hear that buddy. my boss had diabetes and as long as he checks his sugars at the right time and gets his insulin hes good to go. if the sugars start to crash a good thing to get them back up quick is orange juice. had to do that with him a couple times

Sent you a PM....My son was diagnosed when he was 3 yrs old and is now 9 and strong as ever. We have started the Belleville Walk to Cure Diabetes and my son has been the youth ambassador twice for the Belleville area. I know it can be devastating but believe me.....with the right knowledge...anything can be accomplished....

Check your PM...

Thanks so much for all your nice words of encouragement everyone.

My daughter is doing better. Still at Hospital till monday. At least for now. Im home with our youngest of the two girls for the night. Of course Im not going to get much sleep. So I thought I would keep my mind busy and check the site. Wow. It sure is nice to have so many people here reply. Thanks again.

Its been a crazy nightmear for us the last few days. I think the worst part is seeing my little girl go through so many figure pokes and of course the insulin injections 3 - 4 times a day. I think its harder on me then her. Ill be sure to post back when I can and let you all know how we are doing.

Cory
