Fished yesterday with plans of making jigging raps one of my go to baits. I've used them many times in the past with little success. I can catch walleye on dog kaka but not j raps. It's almost like they repel walleye for me. Does anyone else suffer from this syndrome?

are you using the ones canadian tire sells and walleye world. (wallmart)
or the ones bought u.s.a side, fat nancys, gander mountain etc.
the u.s.a ones are bigger. i have never used the canadian ones, they are twice the price and half the size.
i do good with the u.s.a ones, but i mean i use artifical baits, i dont use minnows.

Canadian ones I would assume. Didn't know there was a difference. I have caught the occasional fish when there is a decent bite on them but not enough productivity to have much confidence in them

Guys,

Only the Canadian Jigging Raps work on Quinte. Don't get sucked into those US knock offs. It's like American beer. They just don't cut it. Well, unless you put two US jigging Raps on at one time. Then they might be equal.

I was out yesterday afternoon, marked fish from 3pm on, tried everything, champs, pimples, buckshots, macho, raps, then I put on a puppet minnow and bang 6 in 30 minutes, size ranged from 6 lbs to 1.5lbs. I like the quick snap jigging with them, about 16inch snap jigs, then when a fish comes on the screen, I like to tap the rod tip downward to shake the minnow on the treble hook.

ive had alot of luck calling in a fish on them but closing the deal is a different story lol the darn lure frustrates me for the most part and that front hook is a mistake on there part it catches the ice and you lose more fish than you get topside lol ,, maybe they only work if you know how to cuss in finish!! lol

i find it best to cut the front and back hooks off, then switch the belly treble to an oversized one , ie 4 or 5. had a couple of fish lost due to the front hook catching the ice . made the change no problem since.

Hey Grizz, the eyes that I get on the Jigging Raps are big enough that they swallow the rap so the hook can't get caught on the ice. :D

They come in different sizes!! Size 5,7,9 etc...Don't think it matters if they're Canadian or U.S.
