On Saturday I was fortunate enough to get out for the day with Dan and Mike(Martycoo) from Muddy Waters guiding service. A few weeks ago I won a free trip for two through the Gofishontario derby. I went with my father.
The drive up Saturday morning from Mississauga was horrible with all the snow on the roads so we were running late. About 1km from our meeting spot we went around a corner a bit to fast and slid halfway into a ditch. I called Dan to let him know we would be late and he offered to come over and help. He and Mike plus the help of a guy in a Ranger(thank you Ranger guy!) helped pull us out. We got out on the ice late but marked fish right away. As the day progressed the winds picked up! They set us up in a nice flip over hut with a Buddy heater. The winds were defining but we kept warm. I was lucky enough to spend some time talking to Mike about fishing techniques and various productive lures. Mike as you all already know, knows his stuff! He is a great guy, very easy going and eager to teach the ways of the eye. Dan, I must say, is a master at what he does! He told me about how the walleye migrate through the bay throughout the ice season. He is truly passionate about ice fishing for these toothy critters and it shows! Later in the day we talked and he showed me first hand how he gets the fish to bite.
Between talking to Dan and Mike I definitely became a better Quinte angler!
Dan runs a great service and works his butt off to serve his clients and I would recommend anyone wanting to catch fish AND learn a whole lot, to look into going out with Muddy Waters guiding service!
Dan and Mike, my father and I thank you so much for your generosity, hospitality and lessons that will last a life time!

We got started late due to the sliding into the ditch but I got two and my dad got one. They were small but the other clients had a cuppla nice fish on the ice before noon in the 4-6 pound range. What we got was not picture worthy lol.
