MY FIRST BROWN!!!

Hi Guys

Topwater(my brother Mike) and i fished Irondequit Bay(U.S.A.) this Saturday with King-Me Charters (Steve Drave)...with cold water temps and foul weather Steve Managed to put us on fish for most of the early morning hours...We boated four and the Captain boated one...out of a possible 11!!We were new to planner board fishing and had a little trouble adjusting at first , but with great guidance by King-Me we finnaly caught on

Man WHAT a GREAT looking fish If anyone ever wanted to take a charter ....I highly recommend KING ME SPORTSFISHING this is a top class operation, Steve will work his butt off to put fish in the box for you :lol:

We had no hassels at the boarder ethier way , great directions, great accomadations...and best of all there was a Hortons across the parking lot thats open 24/7 :lol:

We had such a great time we are going back for Salmon and steelhead...Now maybe I can get King-Me out late fall to experance the great fishery you have on Quinte :lol:

Congrats on your first brown. As a kid I grew up in St. Catherines and spenty many days fishing browns in Port Dalhouise. They have an excellent run in the spring and a good launch to use. Most of the guys drift the run with roe bags. Nice thing about it is it can be fished in smaller boats. You're right about the beauty of a brown. Really nice markings.

BTW Dan, I just started fishing Port Dalhousie this year, only live 20 minutes away, got any secret tips? ; )

Tech,
I found the browns were very line shy and the best set up was 4 lb Ande line (pink), long noodle rod and as little terminal tackle as possible. Good Luck down there

I wish by boat, but am fishing from shore for the time being.

Hey tech

If you are fishing from shore , you may want to try the warm water discharge from any factorys along HWY. 33...Lafarge....ect Browns are by nature a very light and noise sentive fish , The best time to catch them is during low light conditions...cloudy days , early morning, early evening....if you have a bright sunny day the fish will retreat to deeper water, which maybe out of reach from shore!! You may want to try Little rippers By Reef Runner (blue & silver) I also heard tha purple stick baits are doing well such as Manns Thunder Sticks , Small Repala's in black and gold ..is what I was using!!! REMEMBER if you are fishing from shore and the water is clear KEEP a low profile, these fish are super skiddish any noise from shore or a boat motor will drive them away!!!
