Hey Gents,

Well, Grant & I have been back on the ice together with clients/sponsor’s and friends over the last 2 weeks....The action has definitely been hit and miss, with good days hitting as many as 30 to 40 Walleye, however there have also been some pretty tough days that have had us grinding for 5 to 10 fish days.... but that's Walleye fishing for yah.

Most of our success has come on the Northland "Macho Minnow" & "Buckshot Rattle Spoon" in any of the Glow colors...with the "Live Forage Fish Fry Minnow Spoon" also working well. And yes, the good ole Northland Fire Eyed Minnow....it has been on FIRE (Just for you Aadil  ). Remember, unlike the areas closer to Belleville & Big Island, the Reach area has significant current, so make sure you are using baits with considerable weight, flash and a good flutter action when jigged.

I still must say, without the use of a Flasher out there it's like your BLIND or you feel NAKED, it just makes that much of a difference. You will also find (In the Reach) with the current you will see your bait being pushed well beyond your transducer cone. If turning up the GAIN doesn't allow you to see your bait, then drilling an additional hole 1' or even 2' away from your hole should do the trick (Down stream).

So, with this warm spell and the flash freeze, it has pretty much eliminated all ice and slush on the surface and turned it into ice, making is slightly easier to get around (And NOT stuck). However, it has also allowed for additional light penetration down there. This will make the morning and evening bite (Or deeper water) even more critical to focus on. We'll see what the next few days does to the ice, we had a pretty good base... so it should be ok by the time is get's colder on Saturday.

We'll be out the next 5 days with clients and friends, so give me a shout if you're looking for any info.

I have added a bunch of pics from Friends & Clients while we have been out....I have also added a video I put together for your enjoyment (I'll try to add more video's moving forward).

Cheers, Hodgey...

We have a number of other fun videos to watch too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBXktfRFq8M
