Quinte Fishing

Hello Forum,

I'm curious what some do to prepare for their fishing tournaments. When pre-fishing is not always an option how do you go about learning your lakes? Are there certain resources that you use or find that help you? Currently I am looking into some stuff available online and finding some helpful tools. It's been a while since I have posted on here.So I thought I would throw the question on here with hopes of getting your input. Would like to here any advice and tips that you have to offer. What has worked best in your experince?

what type of fishing are we talking here ?? ice fishing tournment, or soft water, if soft water bass or walleye ?
either way its all ways best to know the area your fishing, there is a ton of structure in every lake, but the locals all ways know what structure holds fish and which ones dont, if you dont know the lake you could waste a ton of time fishing structure that doesnt hold fish.

Sorry about that. Bass Fishing is my main interest.

Study a hydrographic map. Plan ur attack based on the season and where fish should be holding in respect to it. Talking to locals and bait shop owners for colours, lures, structure to key in on will give u a jump off point. Looking at previous tournament records can often tip u off as to possible seasonal patterns, lures, colors.

I tournament fish alot like every weekend in the summer uo to the late fall. I try and find the best info i can so i do study maps, google earth is a good start. Yes listening to locals there is alot of bs, but there is always a local that won't ant actually help you. Even though Im a competitor and I compete against everyone I do help people. Look at the lake tournament results and the time of year that the weights were caught, it helps you out alot and shows how much weight you may need to have for that time.

look into all the history of the various tournaments on the body of water,study the results,map out hotspots and waypoint them on your GPS,find out what forage base is,talk to locals - find out what the hot baits are on the lake,take with a grain of salt,time on the water is best but this does help,interface your GPS on the internet to co-ordinate your waypoints....!!Ed

Hydo-maps, google maps, GPS chips, etc. can defintiely help maximize your time on the water. However, Quinte is not like any other lake ..... you really need to know your spot within a spot and that take time.
