Hey gang,

my mom just moved to a house on the water side just southwest of the Bay of Quinte Golf Club. I've only ever ice fished West Lake Big Island and Green Point/hay bay but I'm itching to get out in front of her place...

Just wondering what the conditions might be like there in terms of ice and more importantly current...you can see huts to the west and the creek (Potters?) to the east is always busy, but there isn't much in between the two. It's doesn't look like anyone has been out there...Anyone fished this area and might know if there's current?

Fshed in that area a lot in the 80's. Excellent at times.

You have to move around to find the fish. Guys diid well there last week. Haven't heard of any reports this week.

Yes there is some current there but more so on the south shore this time of the year. Becareful and spud your way out. Ice is safe in some places on Quinte but you have to watch for the scimmed over auger holes that could be 3' in diameter with the errosion from the rain & wind.

Good luck, but be careful.

Al

Was in the Montrose area this morning.......12" of ice. No current or very little in that area at best of times. Straight out from Montrose there is a creek that flows there and at times the ice can be sketchy in front of it. Where u are is generally some of the safest ice in the bay., saying that check as u go for your own peace of mind.

Thanks a lot guys, I've been either tied up with hockey or laid up with a bad back since I took the kids out to hay bay, but I'm hoping to get out a couple of times before the saddest, most depressing day of the year....
Feb. 28....

Not a sad day at all. :) :)

Means I can start working on the boat to get it ready for fishing browns off Wellington, & head up north for ice out Speckies.

Soft water soon. :D :D

For those of us without a boat, it kind of is...I love the Wellington Dock, Meyers in Belleville as much as anyone, but it kind of sucks having to fish off a dock in the summer..
