Hey got a question for ya...since it seems like you guys are catching a lot of fish an im not..was out last friday evening at deseronto and saturday evening at long reach and sunday afternoon at shermans point..all we got were sheepsheads, perch, and gobies...were mainly fishing with uzick style swan lures...my question is how do you guys fish these lures?...do you just drift fish or slow troll and let them bounce of bottom with a worm?
do you use any weights or special rigging..sorry for all the questions but its hard to drag the pops out in the boat when all we catch are sheepshead...any info would be appreciated...
thanks
rob

Hi there,

Saw your post wondering How to? It depends on the area that you're fishing. If you're fishing water 10 - 14 ' that's how far you should be down. As the depth increases, just keep fishing. we have see a lot of fish being high in the water column.

We've gotten fish in 24 - 38' fishing down 8 - 10'.

Hope that helps.

Hi Rob
I do drift with spinners at times. Usually when the wind is howling and it's difficult to troll. I put out a drift sock and drift. I find when I am drifting I pick up a variety of fish as you mentioned. I am generally in deeper water when drifting.
I set up the rigs the same way for trolling or drifting varying only the weight[1/4oz-1/2oz most of the time]. We usually are fishing just off bottom near weedy areas.
I tie the uzick/swan spinner to a 3' lead to a swivel. Above this I use a slip weight usually a bullet style sinker.
One of the most important parts of the system is to thread about 1-1/2 inch of worm onto the shaft of the hook. Then hook just the tail section of a natural coloured plastic tail and you're in business. With this you have the flash of the special coloured blade, the scent of the worm, and the action of the tail. It works well....Larry
