Opening morning I head out with my oldest son who is 1yr away from his jr hunters course. We set up in a promising spot and watch the day unfold. Surrounded by gobblers, we are excited as the sky begins to lighten up. 'I see a bird in that tree' Matt says, sure enough, several minutes later the first of 4 hens pitch out of the trees into our field. They hang around long enough to have Tommy boy come up from behind us and join the show. At 6:30 a load of #6's out of the 20ga puts a serious hurt on our opening day bird.

Matt goes out for the head stomp, better him than me, 1 1/8 hooks on this bird 8O

Not only is he good at getting geese, he is a great turkey retreiver also

Hard to get the group shot, but I think this one is pretty good.

Matthew with the prize, thanks pal, you made it a very special day..

22lb bird, matching 1 1/8" spurs, 10.5" beard

Great hunt guys to both you and to Catcher and his son!
I had to work today and it drove me crazy. I'll be out in the rain tomorrow. Still beats working though.
Congrats again to some great birds.

Great job dad. My son was 19 before I could get him to go but we doubled on that morning taking a pair of 19 lb.birds. A week latter he took a second Tom. I haven't been able to get him home to hunt since but hope I can sometime. You can't put a price on those days.
