I will be staying in the Wellers Bay area first weekend in August and was wondering about the action in the area. Salmon are just starting around here (west of Toronto).

Also, should I plan on heading into the bay for pickerel at night or can they be had on the west side? I have caught some small ones in Wellers Bay but nothing over the 2 pound mark. Bass are ussualy good in ther Bay as well but I like the open water.

Thanks.

I used to do Salmon charters out of Wellers bay, I used to notice a lot of fish on the fish finder about a half a mile when you are out of the rock crib and in about 30 ft of water. (1/2 mile off of the rock crib just starting out in Lake Ontario from wellers bay. These fish are walleye, if I remember correctly it was about august. I fished them only once and had decent luck on deep diving wally divers. Things may have changed but if you have a fish finder give it a try. Let me know how you make out.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I've got lots of wally Divers and deep diving raps I can throw on the side plainer. Guess it couldn't hert to throw one on the rigger as well.

I'll post a report when I get back.

Hope I'm not misinforming you as it has been several years since I've fished in or around Wellers Bay, if it's too ruff on the Lake as in that area the waves tend to break quite large, try casting some big spoons or large body baits in Wellers bay, there are some big pike and a few big muskies cruising around.
