Hey I was fishing the Murray canal in Carrying Place close to the quinte side and I caught a cross between a goby and a perch. Boy was it ugly! It had the goby body but the perch strips on it. If you don't believe go to Turner's Tackle Carrying Place. :roll:

Sounds as if you may have caught a Johnny Darter or Loggerhead Perch (also a darter ) They are similar in shape to Gobies (a bit slimmer and longer) and don't have a swim bladder either.
