About a year ago I met one of the owners of Pro Advantage Paintball & Hobbies, he told me that they sold st.croix rods and convinced me to come into his shop and buy one. When I came into the shop he told me that if the rod broke he would replace it, and if I wanted to upgrade to a better model that I could give the rod back and just pay the difference between the two. Sounded pretty good to me so i bought one. Well not to long ago it broke while i was casting, so I brought it back to Pro Advantage and aparently I was lied to. The owner that I bought the rod from was not in but the other one was. He basiclly called me a lier and that wasnt what I was told. I would have to pay 70 bucks to get my rod sent away to be checked, which I only payed 90 for, if that makes any sense. Then he got the other owner on the phone and then I was told to calm down and just buy another rod.(YEAH RIGHT). After coming home I was still a little pissy about the poor treatment so I emailed st.croix and explained what had happened and how I felt about it. Not long after I got an email back from jeff little of thier service department. I thought I would at least get an appoligy for the poor service but no, all I got was a regergitation of what the salesman said; I would have to pay a bunch of money to get the warranty I thought I had. Its really to bad because I kinda liked the rod. St.Croix may CLAIM to be high in quality, but thier deffinetly low in customer service/relations. If you still want to by a st.croix I suggest you DONT buy anything at Pro Advantage Paintball & hobbies.

Cabelas Fish Eagle Graphite II, I have been using a 5' 3" med action for bass fishing for 30 years (same one), last weekend caught 40 inch muskie on the same pole on 10 pound test line. Very sensitive pole.

I believe you are referring to a retailer?

Suggestion- take a peek at the companys website (they have a full warranty/ service section) or contact the company directly.

in his rambal he did say that he called the company. i think its a case of, the owner didnt understand the warranty at the time he sold you the rod because like you said they had just started carrying them.. can the rod be repaired ?? there is lots of rod repair shops around, you see those bands on the rod the hold the guides on, well normal they can put a band on to fix the break, i have had it done, was pretty skeptical about it, but it worked and lasted... that being said it's a bait caster rod, and normaly just sits in the boat. lol.

I dont think its a fair comment to dis a retailer that has his hands tied by the rod maker. Not that its any comfort to you but G Loomis has a warranty cost and it seems thats the way some rod makers are going. I have both and are happy with both and hope I dont ever have to make a warranty claim.

Buy Shimano and you won't be dissapointed, I broke a 120 dollar trolling rod by my own stupidity. I called them they said saw it in half and mail it back, I only paid to ship my rod back like 10 dollars and they sent me a brand new one no questions asked. Cabelas is good about their stuff as well

shimano is one of the few big companys that gives money back to the local fishing clubs, ever hear of the shimano water weight in system.
i belive thats the system quinte bass series uses, and it was probly either given to them or sold to them at a great discount threw shimano..
they are diffently a company to buy stuff from.. and the quality is very good.. i have g loomis rods.. wont buy another one now that i know if it breaks i have to pay like a 75 fee to have them replace or fix it...

its like in high school, the caf only sold coke products, but we had nice score boards in both gyms and new foot ball mats etc.. because coke gave them to us, if they didnt we would of never had that stuff.. shimano is giving money back to cbaf clubs when members summit receipt photo copy's, that they bought shimano products.. cbaf is canadian bass anglers federation for those that didnt know..

I am pretty sure there was a little tag on the rod when you bought it that outlined the warranty in full detail. Jamie is a great retailer and not a liar. I love it when people come on to the internet and act like this, just shows their true colours, yellow.

Jamie's (the sole owner of Pro Advantage) reputation speaks for itself. He has donated thousands of dollars in cash and product over the years and volunteered countless hours of his own time for worthy causes related to the local fishing industry like the Quinte Walleye Open, Quinte Bass Anglers, Kids Fishing Tournaments, Frink Centre, Deer Rock Lake cleanup, and other conservation & charity events, etc. The guy would literally give you the shirt off of his back. In fact, I actually saw him give a guy the shirt off his back last year after pulling him out of cold fall water when his boat was swamped. He is as honest as they come and to call him a liar is just plain laughable. Sorry you slammed your old beat up mojo rod in the car door (what a steal at $90!), but slandering good people wont get them to pay the $20 shipping on your sketchy warranty claim. Pretty yellow for sure boat guy, and we don't buy it. Spin your BS and look for handouts on one of those other boards that puts up with that sort of thing.

Hmm, and I thought this kind of crap was saved for the off season.
I have known the owner of Pro Advantage Paintball & Hobbies for a few years now and no I am not a customer of his but Jamie is a pretty good guy and a straight shooter if there is a misunderstanding here I think you may be on the incorrect end. Very few rod companies do free replacement and when they do it is usually on the high end gear, last I heard which was around 3 yrs. or so ago there was only 1 of st. croix's rods that had that warranty and you could not upgrade since you were already at the top. I am only guessing but I feel you may have gotten things twisted around by asking about the best product they had and buying a bit cheaper so as to lighten up on the pocket book.

If you think about it the rod cost you .25cents a day for the last year, so get over it and start to save your quarters for your next rod.
