Probably nothing. This supposed controversy involved one US boat entering Canadian waters from a US point of origin. Besides, the captain is responsible for the operation of the boat, not a tournament fishing organization.

alot of the feild stays canadian side.. the major shoals are on the canadian side...
i am not saying there isnt good fishing on the american side because there certainly is..
but more americans come accross then canadian's going accross, i think it effects them more then us... i could see having a nexus card being a requirement in future years for the kingston open.. because as it stands the have a american licence rule doesnt do any one any good with out a nexus card..

In the past many of the field have fished Chaumont, Henderson, and Mexico Bays and if they cross the border they are required to report to Canadian authorities when they return. This is not just about Americans crossing the line into Canada. Use your NEXUS card if you like and see if the Americans with their drones can find you. Do you think the American authorities will continue to allow their border to be crossed without boaters reporting in.

when i call in, i am talking to american border patrol, not canadian... but this is a canadian/american system, meaning the americans can use this as well.. this system has been in place for years many canadian tournament fisherman have been using it for years... but in the kingston open, your partner that you draw for that day may not have a nexus card meaning you cant use nexus because every one aboard the boat must have a nexus card..
i fish the american side and will continue to do so, following the regulations.. this isnt new stuff and thats what people dont understand, if you dont know your breaking the laws doesnt mean your not...
do i think those people that legitamitly break laws they arent aware that esist should just get warning, of course i do..

are you relating to the current system ?? or the system thats been followed for many many years.. the current system they require you to say where your going, its not rare for a coast guard boat to be there when you get there, i havent been checked this year... but have been in past years.. allways asked for that landing number thing they give you when you call in..
i go back and forth over the border alot(via car) due to having a american wife. so they know me well..

Its not said but I assume that the same logic applies for canadians fishing US waters. Arrive at a US port first and check in then go fishing. I wonder if the US side will also start handing out fines for canadians drifting into US waters who havent checked in with customs first?

lol this is really turning into quite the joke. APPARENTLY the BIG BAD AMERICANS are much more leinant to there canadian brothers ?? lol......... the nexus was NOT set in place for water traffic. in fact it was thought up and set in place for the land travelers many cross the borders every day dew to work relations. i mean there is 4000 miles of border lol.......... fireball keeps saying this is nothing new........ and he is right ...... i mean Canada has only bordered the us for a few million years but only matters in the last few hundred years and just in the last few months Canada has decided we need money so lets get it from american fishermen, hey so be it the first shot has been fired. and heared up and down the St Laurance/ as Shark said. this could get VERY INTRESTING!

your nexus boat card isnt the same one truckers use at the boader.. its water only, there is land ones as well... its the system i was taught to use when i started fishing the st.lawarance, and the only system i was ever under the impression to be vaild.
if you read the american boards, and they are bang on, this is caused by the american adminstration calling the canadian/usa boarder the terrorist hub of north america. and hillary clinton ordering a crack down... its all politics.....
and your right on grizz, us poor old fisherman have been left out of there plan...

like you said to me once, its just red tape, you just have to play there game along with them..

i am youngin compared to you old men, so in my serious fishing days there never wasnt the nexus program.. i mean when i starting fishing in haybay with a 14 foot aluminum and a 9.9. there was no chance i was ever going to make it to the usa border.
when i say old men, i mean grizz of course.
