Canada is releasing a statement today. They ate clearly in their rights to give tickets by law but it has been tolerated in the past. They even acknowledge that is rarely enforced. It will be interesting to see what they say and if a compromise has been reached. Another buddy got picnhed for a 1000 yesterday heading to whitby for a tourney. There are a lot of people who are no longer fishing or going to spend their dollar there because of the incidents. Hope it gets resolved.

Once you cross the border through customs, you are good to go, that is unless you cross back across the border into New York, then you have to check in to US Customs lol...yes..once you are in Canada you are good to go. Enjoy the fishing

The Whig had their heads up their butts for the last 3 weeks while this stuff was going on and I thank the American media for doing their jobs in making light of this nonsense. Our politicians were being quoted in their media weeks before ours. Canadians are treated like mushrooms, Keep them in the dark and feed them Sh...

I tried googling all kinds of stuff but I have no idea what the issue is here; is this about boaters cards? Can someone give a hint as to what this is about? :?

I think I found it all by my self! :D :D  Is this it? http://www.gofishn.com/ned/reports/1233 ... ian-waters

That is it, in my opinion they are just doing their jobs, however, I believe a little discretion could be in order. Same goes for US side.

I agree; only problem with a story like this is that you only hear one side. If the fisherman or his guests got a little lippy then this could have been provoked. This appears to be an isolated incident?

Problem with relaxing the rules is, where and how do you draw the line such that enforcement is / can be more forgiving but still clearly defined? Maybe if you are more than one mile away from Canadian (or US if a Canadain fishing US side) mainland you don't have to phone?

I hope for the sake of the fisherman that the officer was a prick and he gets his money back. I hope for the sake of the officer that the fisherman was a prick and deserved the fine.

Good fences make good neighbors but I don't think it needs to razor wire...

He was going to Whitby, Ontario by boat? What about your trip from Desoronto to Pt Pennisula? Did you report back into the US Customs :).

We only went to charity shoal but fished in both waters back and forth so we just kept calling both sides. 19 calls in four hours

the very south tip of charity is in u.s.a waters.... who did you call ?? i am interested because all these people talk about calling in, and i am pretty sure none of them have a nexus card which according to every thing i read, is the only method allowed for calling in, no nexus card you have to check in...
you were probly fishing allan otty shoal, thats a way better walleye shoal the charity... you wouldnt give your spot away...
but its in the u.s.a side.. i still go by what i read you fished henderson harbour....
if you have a criminal record you cant get a nexus card, its not a every one gets approved system..
