NY fishing licence...

I just renewed my NY fishing licence on-line.

Didn't notice until I printed out the DECALS form stating it's paid for and duration, that it's start date is 10/01/2010 and stop date is 09/30/2011.

I've paid the $70 for what I thought was a full year.

Do these licences not run for a full year?

um yes , that is a full year

They just renew on Oct first as opposes to Jan 1st.

Oct 1st 2010 to Sept.30th 2011 is a full year.

...just not used to it not being Jan. - Jan.

Figured like the Ontario one, I'm getting screwed. 3 times now my resident lic card has only been good for 2 years and not 3.

I've been getting one for over 20 years and I may only need it a couple of times in October and then not again for 7 months. When in Rome.....
The US guys come over here and only use theirs for 3 months.

i have heard of lots of guys forgetting that it expires sept, 30, running over to the states to fish a tournament getting hammered for not having a vaild licence, and of course they take the fish as well.. but i dont think to much of this running over to the u.s.a side stuff will be happening this summer.

I could see that happening for sure, Steve. It would be easy to forget to renew.
