Caught this close to 10 lbs fish last Sunday morning from Napanee River in Napanee (east of Bay of Quinte). Is it a burbot or something?

Bowfin for sure. I caught one ice fishing and when I threw it back everyone was yelling at me. Apparently if that is in the water, not much else is.

ive recently caught a few of these and have sighted many more one was an unexpected night fish

i have caught many fish in the same areas at the same time as these so it may be a myth but they are definitely aggressive never seen a small one and they chase anything

there are quite a few in west lake,
fantastic fight.
I wasn't sure at first if I should release it or kill it.
doing some research I found bowfin is considered a sport fish
