Just back from 2+ weeks at the bay. Fishing was hit and miss for lack of a better description. I think the weather had the fish really confused. The first week was a lot of rain, wind and cold. I think there may have been a total of maybe 5 days that were somewhat resembling August weather for the two weeks we were up there. In any case, some days were REAL slow where you had to go from spot to spot for one fish out of each hole (ie. the church to Thompson's to Sherman's) or you hit a school of them for 10+ in a couple of hours. There were a LOT of slot sized fish being caught as well as numerous babies around 8 inches. An example of the number of slotters was a day we had 11 'eyes but 7 were between 19 - 23 and one around 8 inches and only 3 between 14 - 18 3/4's.

The good news is that with the arrival of semi seasonal August weather, the fish seemed to have come on strong in the last few days. This past Saturday, during the 1st annual Bayview Resort Memorial Tournament, Sherman's, Thompson's and Mallory Bay gave up quite a number of fish. We had five in about an hour at Thompson's, saw the Fatman boat at least 8 during the same time. Kingfisher PV boated his limit at Sherman's in a short period of time and happened to win the first annual tourney (congrats Jack!).

The Uzick's in Chartreuse or Orange were working with the Chartreuse producing better overall. Biggest walleye I caught was 26 inches. Not back up until the 27th.

Thanks for the report Ken. No doubt this weather has been messed this summer. 2 weeks ago I was up at Nippissing, and for 5 days it was crazy windy everyday. Infact, I was drifting faster than I woulda been trolling some days.
No matter, 2+ weeks up there at boq beats 2+ weeks in the concrete jungle anyday. Good luck on the 27th.

WIG, Blakewood is almost directly across from Bayview Resort where Superdad and I reside.

October is historically a slow month but hopefully we'll be able to hook into a bunch. See you at the gathering.

Look forward to meeting you guys Ken!

Should be a good time, even if the fish don't cooperate!

Perish the thought :!:
