After much research and a trip out West. I have ordered a Wooldridge 26' pilot house boat for this fall. http://www.wooldridgeboats.com. The factory is working on it right now and will be sending me pictures as the build progresses so I thought I would share the pictures on a few forums as I figured you guys might find it interesting as well. I will continue to update with new pictures in the original post as I get them.

The final product will look something like this one:

I looked long and hard at the used market and all over Canada and the US. Interesting enough every time I found a boat that I felt was well suited to Quinte and the Great Lakes it was manufactured out West. Either Oregon, Washington, BC, or Alaska. I found a used Wooldridge in Florida that looked very interesting and after tracing it back to the factory in Seattle I called them and discussed a trip out to water test a few boats and visit the factory. I was thrilled to meet 4 generations of the Wooldridge family and see that this company is run from the ground up by family with a lot of pride in their work. The boat is an all-weld aluminum with a full pilot house and a forced air furnace for the late season on Quinte. Those of you that know me, know I can't go without my coffee so they are putting in an inverter and a cabinet for the coffee maker in there too. I was able to walk through a similar boat at the factory and totally customize the boat to suit my needs which was really cool. Too many modifications to list all at once but here are a few pictures Grant Wooldridge has sent me over the last 2 weeks.

This style is quite common on the westcoast. I was just out on something similar today for coho, spring and one pink salmon. Oh....and a few halibut yesterday. Enjoy your new boat....this style is quite comfortable in virtually every conceievable condition we would experience at BOQ.

amazing.

wow.

i'm assuming with a boat of that size, you would be limited to launching in picton bay?

or do you feel you could get her launched at the ferry? (i know pryners would be a no-go)

a furnace and a coffee maker...i'm coming to find YOU on the water to pull up to....

Congrats on your new ride Scott - it should be an awesome boat for BOQ and area. I have been closely following the migration of these west coast boats (3/4 different manufacturers) to the Great Lakes and they are gaining in popularity, due I think to being built like a tank, and very practical for fishing Great Lake waters. If I was looking for a new boat one of these would be high on my list.

What are you planning on powering her with?

Looking forward to seeing her on the water this fall.

Steve,

I always have an extra cup of fresh coffee. I have lots of friends on the water lol. Anytime.

As for launches, I'm confident I could launch her anywhere. I launched my seaswirl at pryners Dec 10 last year, and this one shouldn't be anymore difficult. I'm sure I'll be fine.

The seaswirl was a good boat and it was good to me, but the i/o wasn't good for late season so I'm really looking forward to outboards and staying on the water without the stress of cracking the block.

Scott

I Erie Eyes.

Truthfully these all weld boats are tanks. Not like our tin market here at all. (No disrespect to anyone or their boat). Wooldridge makes some really nice 19-23 ft boats hat are deep and stable and the ability to customize it is really cool. I'd highly recommend anyone looking at a 18+ ft boats to look at them. Look at their site under www.wooldridgeboats.com. You can call the number on the website as they are factory direct sales.

I'm powering with twin 150 etecs. It will be the fly by wire controls, that I'm really excited about. I will also have the new 15hp etec as a kicker.

Scott

I have seen boats that have heaters and good stuff for fall fishing at the Toronto Boat Show, never thought I'd see one in Quinte.

It will serve you well - looks like an awesome ride.

Cheers
